Plot[]
Deirdre tries to get hold of Dave to find out why he didn't turn up. Alec doesn't think the Rovers refurbishments will be as extravagant as the Dog and Bottle's, but Bet is worried and warns Betty about the changes. Audrey warns Ivy to leave Gail and Martin alone. Ivy vows to protect Nicky and Sarah Louise. Audrey nearly goes for her and Alf has to hold her back. Nigel Ridley tells Alec that they plan to turn the pub into a New York-type bar, called Yankees. Deirdre discovers that Tracy put Dave off. She assures Dave that she is not getting back with Ken. Tracy finds Ken's address and goes to his digs although he isn't there. Bet is outraged to hear about Nigel's vision for the Rovers. Jim manages to get the bike working, Jack jealously looks on. Alec asks Betty to keep the news to herself but Bet herself tells the regulars about the plans. Nigel calls in to witness Percy in uproar about the proposals. He takes Percy's complaints on the chin. Bet is pleased that the regulars want to keep the Rovers the same. Tracy is disappointed to see that Deirdre and Dave have made up. Gail tells Ivy about the abortion and that so-called "irresponsible" Martin stopped her. Ivy now orders Gail to marry Martin.
