Plot

Alf misses the factory custom. Alma chides Sally for causing Martin to find out about the abortion. Reg is pleased that he's in the clear over Renee Dodds. At Victoria Station, Gail is shocked to see Martin. He tells her that he's pleased with the news and doesn't want her to have an abortion. Gail is unmoved, pointing out that he may feel differently in future. Deirdre tries to find out what caused the fight between Ken and Mike. Kevin stands by his decision to tell Martin. Wendy tries to help Ken find a job. Martin jumps onto the train with Gail and argues with her about the abortion. Gail accuses Martin of trying to force her to do what he wants. He says he'll go to the clinic with her if he has to but has enough of her attitude and gets off at Broad Green. Deirdre is relieved when Ken tells her the fight wasn't about her. She doesn't like her marriage problems being made public and asks him to stay away from the Street unless he's picking up Tracy. Ken is hurt but agrees. Kevin makes up with Sally with chocolates. Dave loses his temper at Deirdre's reluctance to go out. Gail returns, not having been to the clinic, but she is bitter because she is being forced to have a child she doesn't want.
