Plot[]

Ivy is annoyed when the girls don't make up the old rate and wages even though they work flat out. She refuses to take orders from Connie Parker. Martin helps Kevin knock No.13 about, building an archway. Mike is delighted to get an order from buyer Graham Farrell but isn't sure the order can be completed on time. Kevin spends his spare time stripping the wallpaper at No.13. He and Sally are horrified when the building society reject their mortgage application. Mike realises that he's going to have to win the girls round so he offers to up the rate 5% and tells Ivy that he'll pay them all overtime at time-and-a-half. The girls reluctantly agree. The building society tells the Websters that in June 1985 Sally had a county court judgement made against her for an unpaid debt of £216.48 and as they didn't declare this they couldn't have the mortgage. Sally had forgotten all about the debt. She tries to explain it to Kevin but he is furious, accusing her of ruining their chances.

TV Times synopsis: Sally and Kevin Webster are all set to become home-owners in 1988, but a letter from the building society leads them to a skeleton in the cupboard.
After four weeks of videotaped location work, with this episode outdoor scenes return to being shot on film until Episode 2806 (17th February 1988), switching back to videotape permanently the following episode.
