Plot[]
Hilda is thrilled to see her abstract painting hanging in Annie's living room. Gail starts work at Dawson's Cafe. Ken feels that in court Karen Barnes might side with Dave and confess to an affair. Albert agrees not to inform the police. Emily is quiet as it is a year since Ernie's death. Brian is upset to hear Gail thinks he stood her up. He tells her he was so drunk at the party he forgot about the date. Bet and Annie take the picture out of its frame to fit a better one. On the back is a message written to Stan from Hilda. Annie is horrified and plans her revenge. Brian asks Gail out again, she agrees to see him. Ken stops Karen's lessons. They are both sorry. Bet throws the painting away, Annie tells Hilda she sold it to an art dealer for a huge profit. Hilda is livid. Brian and Gail are pleased they've sorted things out. Suzie phones to say she's returning from London.

Notes[]
- A strike at Yorkshire Television over productivity which began on 18th December 1978 (some sources state 17th December) was not called off until Wednesday 3rd January 1979 with transmissions resuming at 5.45pm. The rest of the country saw Coronation Street without interruption, but Yorkshire had to find additional slots to enable viewers to catch up once the dispute was over. This meant that this episode was transmitted in that region on Friday 12th January at 7.00pm and that after that point Yorkshire was aligned with the rest of the country.
- TV Times synopsis: Annie Walker learns the unpleasant truth about her new painting - and plays a trick of her own. Gail Potter makes another date with Brian Tilsley. Will he turn up?
- Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast - 16,850,000 viewers (3rd place).
