Plot[]
The Langtons pack and sell No.5. Ken asks Mavis to help cater for thirty OAPs at the community centre. Deirdre can't face the farewell party Annie has laid on at the Rovers. Carole Gordon tells Mike she's staying at Bradleys as they've given her a better offer. Mike is glad as he wouldn't have been able to afford her and now has a promising relationship with her. Len presents Deirdre with a carriage clock at the party. Deirdre tells Blanche she's waking up again, like she did when she broke her engagement with Billy. She tells Ray she's not going to Holland.

Notes[]
- Also credited is Joyce Wentworth as Mrs. Lomas. As this character doesn't appear in the episode, it is possible that her scenes were cut before transmission.
- This episode was broadcast at 7.00pm to avoid clashing with the BBC's coverage of the popular Royal Variety Performance at 7.50pm.
- This episode and episodes 1861 and 1862 were not transmitted by Border Television. A simmering dispute with the ACTT (Association of Cinematograph Television and Allied Technicians) union over levels of engineering staff had led to an overtime ban by the union, although other sources state that dispute was over the number of commercials to be transmitted. Whatever the cause, forty engineers were locked out by management from 12.55pm on Sunday 12th November however some enterprising members broke into the premises in Carlisle and staged a sit-in. The dispute continued until Tuesday 21st November when management and union started talks. Although Border made efforts to stage showings of the missed instalments of Edward and Mrs Simpson and Lillie, both major drama serials at the time, they seem to have made no effort to show the missed instalments of serials such as Coronation Street.
- TV Times synopsis: Why are Ray and Deirdre Langton holding a party in the Rovers? Mike Baldwin develops his acquaintance with attractive Carole Gordon.
- Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast - 17,300,000 viewers (2nd place).
