Notes[]

  • First appearance of Peter Barlow since 7th September 1977.
  • First appearance of Ron Mather.
  • Ron Mather's taxi was filmed picking up Elsie Tanner on the corner of George Street and Oxford Street in Manchester. It then travelled down Lower Mosley Street, past the old Central Station which had then been closed for nine years and in 1978 was a car park. Turning past The Briton's Protection pub into Great Bridgewater Street it makes its way down Chepstow Street, past Canada House. The route actually takes the taxi almost back to the point where it began its journey!
  • TV Times synopsis: Bet pulls out all the stops to make sure her picture gets on the cover of the new brewery magazine…but Annie has other ideas. Ken's son Peter arrives - and even he has problems.
  • Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast - 10,150,000 viewers (20th place). Of episodes within the top twenty, this was the least-watched episode of the year.
