Plot
Vera refuses to open the shop until 9.00am but Granny lets it be known that customers will be served any time. Freda Barry takes over the Flying Horse and calls at the Rovers to get acquainted with Annie. Tricia throws herself at Ray. Bet gets to know her new neighbour, Carlos. Vera is annoyed when Idris' car arrives - with bricks - outside the shop. Gertie finds the Community Centre work too hard. She mentions to Annie that she could be her housekeeper. Annie can't take her on but is taken with the idea of having a housekeeper. Annie can't cope with Freda's outspokenness and thinks she's after a favourable reference from her to the LV. Hilda asks Annie for a rise and gets the sack. Annie offers Gertie the job of housekeeper. Bet feels her age and is upset at Tricia's youthfulness. Freda tries to poach Gertie off Annie. Granny is annoyed when she catches Vera on the phone to her mother instead of behind the counter and tells Idris to sort her out.
