She feels she can't take any more humiliation and plans to leave. [[Albert Tatlock|Albert]] appraises [[Janet Barlow|Janet]]'s cooking and gives cautious compliments. [[Alan Howard|Alan]] agrees to supervise the fireworks. [[Len Fairclough|Len]] talks [[Ena Sharples|Ena]] into going to [[St. Anne's]]. Norma forces herself to wish Ken congratulations as he buys drinks for everyone in the [[Rovers]]. The residents watch the fireworks although [[Annie Walker|Annie]] refuses to let [[Bet Lynch|Bet]] have the night off to watch. A spark lands in an open box of fireworks, setting them off and burning [[Mark Hillkirk]]. Ken throws water over him and yells for an ambulance to be called.
