Plot[]

Part One: A massive fireball explodes within No.8. As David, Shona and the others look on in horror, Abi sneaks away down Viaduct Street. The firemen arrive and paramedics attend to Toyah. When Leanne approaches to check on her sister, Nick realises she’s drunk and sends her packing. A fireman enters No.8 and finds Max unconscious. Toyah is taken to hospital, the paramedics having found her head injury. David goes with Max in an ambulance. Shona goes to Sarah's flat to tell Lily that her brother will be alright and then follows on to the hospital. In the Rovers, Jenny sets up a drop-off point for donations for the Platts who have lost everything in the fire. Having failed to find Abi, Debbie voices her suspicions to Kevin that she could have caused Toyah's injuries. Hoping for news of Toyah while she is in surgery for a bleed on the brain, Leanne joins Nick in the hospital. He accuses her of starting the fire and assures him she had nothing to do with it. Max has been put into a coma as his lungs are damaged. David feels guilty for starting the sequence of events by stealing Damon's money. He is aghast when Shona questions if he had anything to do with the fire. As Leanne looks for her purse in her coat pocket, she finds a box of matches.

Part Two: Lauren visits Max and realises how serious things are when Shona can barely hold things together. Kit tells her and David that arson has been proved. David raises his suspicions that Logan was involved and is strongly warned against taking his own action. Audrey is angry when she overhears Sarah telling Bethany that she has suspicions about David's involvement. Finding his company comforting, Amy asks Aadi to stay with her a while longer. The next morning, David looks over the remains of his house. Shona wonders where he has got to. Jenny marshals the neighbours to sort out the various donations. Leanne fears that Tracy suspects her of assaulting Toyah after witnessing her throw the bottle yesterday. Kevin hears that Abi picked up Alfie from the childminder over an hour ago. He and Debbie wonder where she's got to. David enters the undertakers when he spots that the lock has been forced. Logan is hiding within.

Part Three: David sets his phone on voice record. Logan tries to escape but David blocks his way and surreptitiously tries to gain an admission from him that he started the fire. Roy finds Abi in her car with Alfie on Victoria Street, just as she tearfully promises her boy a new adventure. Leanne tells Steve that she was at Oliver's grave when the fire started. Sarah tells Todd that she's seen that someone is in the supposedly locked undertakers. Logan attacks David when he sees the phone, but Todd, Sarah and a policeman enter and save him. Logan protests his innocence as he is led away, making Sarah think when he accuses David over the fire instead. Roy brings Abi and Alfie back to No.13. Shona tears into David for disappearing when he returns to the hospital. Kit questions Leanne about her whereabouts. Steve backs up her alibi, lying that he was with her at the graveside.

Part Four: Lauren keeps a vigil by Max's bedside. Kit reports that Logan has admitting stabbing Mason, but he has a solid alibi for the time of the fire. Aadi visits Amy again. He is about to make a declaration of his feelings when Tracy interrupts them. Tracy finds out from Jenny that Steve and Leanne were drinking in the pub when Amy was stranded and tears into her estranged husband and her erstwhile friend. She accuses Leanne of being Toyah's attacker in front of everyone. Tim tells Steve he did take Leanne to Oliver's grave in the morning, but not later on when the fire began. Having come round, Toyah tells Nick that Abi hit her. The Platts wonder if she also started the fire. Sarah apologises to David for suspecting him but then finds something incriminating on his phone. Kevin sees blood on Abi's clothing. He gets her agreement for him to summon Dr Gaddas. Sarah demands David tells her why he's been searching the internet on the subject of house insurance and arson. He tells her he dropped such plans but refuses to say where he was last night. Kit calls at No.13 and takes Abi in for questioning. David apologises to Max over his prone form and begs him to wake up.
