Plot[]
Part One: Rob is let out of his cell to attend chapel. Abi tells Kevin to ignore anything Toyah says. Ryan is surprised when Bobby says he has to go with Max to town rather than visit Carla on the day she has an operation to fit her dialysis tube. Sean tells Dylan that the police have found CCTV footage of Matty and Logan disposing of the knife. Sally is shocked when George tells her that Mason’s funeral will be basic with no family there. A subdued Dylan avoids talking to Adam about his case. Aadi suspects that Dev and Bernie are up to something. Daisy volunteers to help a busy Daniel fetch Bertie’s birthday cake from the bakery. Ryan finds out from Sarah that Max is in the salon and not in town. Bobby is once more visiting his dad, who tells him he has found religion and would like to donate a kidney to Carla.
Part Two: Betsy finds Dylan drinking vodka at the precinct. Too upset to talk about Mason, she leaves the struggling lad alone. Across the visiting room from Rob and Bobby, Matty Radcliffe gets agitated that his girlfriend hasn’t arrived to visit him. Tim and Sally call a residents’ meeting to try and arrange a better funeral for Mason. Bethany tells Sarah she has been offered her dream job on a magazine in London but worries how Daniel will react. Matty pulls a knife out on a prison officer. The occupants of the visiting room flee as the alarm button is pressed but Bobby is unable to get away quickly. Rob stays to help him. Abi angrily warns Toyah off from contacting Kevin. Overhearing, Debbie is deeply concerned. Carla, Lisa and Betsy present Ryan with an early birthday present. Lisa is distracted by a text advising of a hostage situation at the prison and Ryan is forced to confess his fears that Bobby may be there. Dylan lies in a drunken stupor in the precinct ginnel. Rob tries to talk Matty into giving up. He releases the prison officer and turns the weapon on Bobby instead.
Part Three: Rob pleads for Bobby’s release in God’s name. As Carla tries to ring Bobby, Ryan blurts out that Rob is in prison for murder. Liam finds Dylan unconscious and rings Sean. Defence lawyer Dan meets up with Alya and talks her through the Radcliffe case and how they can use cynically Matty’s disadvantaged background. Alya covers her unease. Rob continues to talk about redemption to try and bring Matty to his senses but has to physically intervene when the thug is about to stab Bobby. He overpowers Matty who is led away as Rob comforts his son. Billy refuses to conduct Mason's funeral, saying he feels he cannot do any more after Paul’s. Bethany tells Daisy about her job offer and Daisy urges her to tell Daniel as he will welcome the move. Bobby visits Carla and praises his dad for saving his life. She and Ryan are sceptical, even when they hear that Rob is offering Carla a kidney.
Part Four: An excited Bethany tells Daniel about her job and is disappointed when he assumes she is going to turn it down as the timing isn't right for them. She is further displeased when Daisy texts Daniel to say that she has fetched the cake. Carla makes it explicitly clear that she wants nothing to do with Rob. Billy tells Sally and Tim that he has had a change of heart and will do Mason’s funeral. No one is aware of Logan watching them from tram station entrance. Sean and Eileen struggle to talk Dylan out of feeling so guilty. Abi assures Kevin that she’s coping and doesn’t need any counselling. Bethany takes her anger out on Daisy. Sean tells Alya she should be ashamed of herself for representing Matty Radcliffe. Alya’s embarrassed when he orders her to leave the pub. Abi relives Mason’s last moments in her head, clearly tortured by her experience. Matty meets up with Rob before he is moved to isolation. Rob congratulates Matty for putting on such a convincing show in the hostage situation which he orchestrated.
