Plot[]
Part One: The Metcalfes awaken to find the word 'GRASS' spray-painted on their front door. Lisa's told that she can come back to work next week. She's making plans with Carla when Betsy reminds her that it's Becky's birthday today. Betsy's furious that the date slipped her mum's mind. Ken wakes up feeling drowsy. Re-hired to look after him, Cassie crushes another pill into his tea to keep herself in a job. David sorts out a lawyer for Max. He's sure that Max is covering for Lauren. Dee-Dee tells Sarah that she needs to get her head around her pregnancy before telling her family. Adam summons Tracy to get rid of Cassie. Given her marching orders, Cassie hits back by revealing that she slept with Steve. Ken tells his family that he'll choose who cares for him. He collapses as they argue. Tim reports Matty to the police over the graffiti. Tracy tells Steve that she and Tommy might be moving back to the UK. Fetching Amy's bistro keys for Toyah, she accidentally knocks Ken's pills on the floor. Lauren's rattled when David tells her it'll be he fault if Max tries to top himself. Shona heads to the hospital after receiving news that Clayton has woken up.
Part Two: Clayton refuses to see Shona. Max goes through his account of Joel's death with his lawyer. It's obvious that the lawyer doesn't believe he could have grabbed the rock while being strangled but he refuses to change his story. Mason sees Logan getting into Tim's cab but the vehicle speeds off before he can warn him. Michael bats a cricket ball into Dee-Dee's stomach while playing outside with Glory. Mason gets Eileen to raise Tim the Street Cars radio but a bad line means that he remains oblivious to the danger he's in. Adam and Steve find Ken nursing a nose bleed and persuade him to have it checked out. Shona tells Lauren that Max's story is full of holes and his brief doesn't think she can get him off. Lauren admits that she killed Joel.
Part Three: Lauren shows Shona Max's letter and explains his plan to take the rap for her so that she wouldn't be separated from Frankie. Tim parks up at the precinct. Matty gets into the cab following a morning of police questioning and threatens to teach Tim some manners. Shona tries to convince Lauren that Max's claim of self-defence won't stick. Max calls from prison and tells Shona to let him do things his way. Mason comes to Tim's rescue, telling his brothers that he grassed them up about the stolen car. Lisa feels guilty about forgetting Becky's birthday and drowns her sorrows at the Rovers. Ryan calls Carla in when she gets drunk and makes a fool of herself. The brothers slink away when Craig arrives on the scene, summoned by Eileen. Lauren asks Shona to say she saw Max kill Joel in self-defence but Shona refuses. Ken goes to hospital where he's told that he has excess warfarin in his system. He admits that Cassie fills his pill box. Shona brings Max's letter to David. Realising that it clears Max of any wrongdoing, David takes it to the police.
Part Four: Kit arrests Lauren on suspicion of murder. She tearfully hands Frankie over to foster mother Helen Darbyshire. At the police station, she admits to being on the bridge when Joel died, but insists that Max administered the fatal blow. She's stunned when Kit presents her with Max's letter. Mason tells Betsy he'll have to lie low for a while. The Barlows conclude that Cassie gave Ken the wrong pills. Dee-Dee gets checked out at the medical centre, telling her family that she has a stomach bug. Carla lets Lisa sleep it off on her sofa. Steve rows with Cassie for nearly killing Ken and tells her to stay away. Lauren confesses the truth to Kit. She's advised that she'll be charged with murder.
