Plot[]

Part One: Sam almost walks in as Nick and Toyah are about to kiss. Lisa is taken aback when she bumps into Carla in the cafe and leaves to avoid talking to her. Gemma, Bernie and the quads return from their trip to Coniston Water. Gemma's put out when Chesney has to rush off to work straight away. At the station, Lisa overhears complainant Greg Delaney mention that his car was vandalised some time ago, and now his catalytic converter has been stolen.

Mr Delaney's smashed wing mirror hangs off his car, which is parked on Noble Street.

Jesse tells an unimpressed Audrey and Sarah about the proposal. Steve's disparaging about the man Cassie’s meeting when she reveals she’s going on a date later. She reckons he sounds jealous. Bernie and Billy disagree again over her plan to send Paul's ashes into space when Billy refuses to give her his share, intending to have them put into a ring that he can wear forever. Dee-Dee confides in Lisa that she can't settle down and in return Lisa tells Dee-Dee how her star has fallen at work and she's dealing in small-time cases such as Mr Delaney's stolen converter.

Joel lies injured near Mr Delaney's car while a red-coloured car drives past.

Part Two: Dee-Dee pushes Carla into joining her and Lisa in their booth at the Rovers. Carla finds the conversation awkward. Bernie isn't pleased when Dev tells her he's already arranged for Paul's ashes to be sent away, thinking he was saving her a job. Kit admits to Ryan that he has little respect for Lisa. Investigating Mr Delaney's case, Lisa realises the car was damaged on the same night that Joel was killed, and the owner remembers hearing two men arguing outside his flat. She sees it was hit by a car with red paint and decides to have forensics look at it. Leanne tells Nick she can’t face being front-of-house after the Institute fall-out and suggests he hire someone. Eileen forces Steve to take Cassie in his cab for her date. Sarah and Audrey act surprised when an oblivious Gail tells them about her engagement. They gently try to persuade her to take things slowly but she's adamant. A sulking Steve takes Cassie into town. Chesney finishes the deep-clean of Prima Doner, but he's outraged when Dev says that he won't be paid for the whole month that the place is shut. Lisa confides in Dee-Dee what she's discovered.

Part Three: Dee-Dee tries to talk down her discovery. Lisa rings Craig with orders to check the ANPR cameras near to Noble Street. Ryan passes on to Carla what Kit said about Lisa, not impressed with his disparaging views. Bernie apologises to Dev but the two swiftly fall out again when Gemma rushes into the shop, berating him for all but sacking Chesney. Cassie returns early, having been stood up. Steve takes her to the Rovers to cheer her up. Audrey and Sarah wonder how they can prevent Gail getting married. Trying to book an event car for the wedding, Jesse tells Eileen about the engagement. George is appalled by her rudeness towards him and his news. Lisa hides what she's discovered from a sneering Kit. Nick offers Toyah the job of bistro manager, telling Toyah they make a great team, and it would get Leanne used to seeing them together. Lisa does the round of garages, trying to find a trace of a red car and finds out from Websters' that Ronnie owns one which was brought in for a repair.

Part Four: Lisa questions Ronnie. Dee-Dee realises the implications and angrily tells Lisa that her uncle had nothing to do with Joel's death, but behind her back she is angry that he kept the news of the accident from her. Bernie refuses to listen to Dev's excuses and tells him to keep his distance. Steve tries to boost Cassie's self-esteem over a drink. Leanne accepts the news of Toyah's new job. Lisa and Carla meet for a drink in the bistro. Carla praises Lisa for her heavy workload and juggling motherhood. However, as Carla lays a comforting hand on her, Lisa flinches and makes a swift exit, leaving Carla gutted. Chesney is forced to take a delivery job for minimum wage on zero hours. Cassie tells Ken she's had a lovely night with a nice man. Steve walks in on their conversation and is pleased to realise that she was talking about him. In her flat, Lisa cries as she looks at bruises on her body.

Lisa, carrying a truncheon, shouts at a moving car in the precinct.
