Plot[]
Part One: Gemma sets off to the Lakes as Joseph packs for his skiiing holiday. Sarah's suspicions about Jesse are re-ignited when Shona mentions that he isn't answering his phone. David plays along. Sam's excited to go to Jodrell Bank with Nick. Toyah moves out of the flat and into digs. She's miserable as she feels she's getting nowhere in life. Carla informs the Platts that she's made an offer on No.8. David tells her she's too late as the bank has agreed to lend him and Shona a 100% mortgage. Keeping her mind off Joel's funeral, Lauren extends an olive branch to Bobby by inviting him to visit Frankie. Chesney discovers he's missed an e-mail informing him that Joseph's flight has been brought forward. He heads off to the airport with Joseph, leaving Kirk to hold the fort at the kebab shop.
Part Two: Sarah and David interrogate Jesse about his prison stint. He explains that he was inside for handling stolen goods, stitched up by a mate who then slept with his wife. Bobby tries to get Lauren and Max to admit that they like each other. Gail reprimands David for putting her buyers off. David retorts that he's trying to keep a roof over his family's head. Jesse inflames the argument by telling David that he's too old to be living with his mum anyway. Upset by the row, Gail tells everyone to get out. A distracted Dee-Dee nearly leaves the cafe without paying for her coffee. The health inspector, Phil Hewitt, follows up a complaint at the kebab shop. Nick drives Toyah and her belongings to her new lodgings. Sam's peeved as they'll barely have any time at Jodrell Bank. He calls the trip off. Kit's convinced that Dee-Dee knows more than she's letting on about Joel's death. Jesse looks for Lily's bike pump at No.8 and finds Damon's money. Gail has a heart attack.
Part Three: Max tells Bobby to cut out the matchmaking, as Lauren doesn't feel the same way as him. Lauren admits that she does. Joseph misses his flight. A sympathetic Rita tells Chesney to book the next flight and she'll lend him the money. Carla raises her offer on No.8 by £5,000. Seeing an ambulance pull up outside the house, she alerts David and Sarah in the Rovers. Gail is conscious but struggling to breathe as the paramedics tend to her. Lauren and Max agree to give their relationship another go. A dim-witted Kirk handles food without gloves in front of Hewitt and tells him about the "five-second rule". Dee-Dee accuses Lisa of doing Kit's dirty work when she asks how she's getting on. Nick assures Sam that he and Toyah are over and done with. Sam thinks he isn't being honest with himself. Chesney and Dev arrive at the kebab shop just as Hewitt closes the establishment to carry out a full inspection. Wheeled into hospital, Gail goes into cardiac arrest.
Part Four: The Platts rally around Gail. Jesse regrets barging into their lives and causing so much aggro. Max tells Shona that Lauren is now his girlfriend and asks if she and Frankie can move into No.8 when she and David buy it. She offers to talk it through with David. The doctors find a blockage in Gail's coronary artery. She's taken in for an angioplasty and has a stent put in. Hewitt finds a cockroach in the back room and tells Dev he can't re-open until action is taken. Chesney is blamed as he left the door open when he took the rubbish out. Toyah finds Sam worrying about Gail and offers him support but he snaps at her saying he doesn't need it. Chesney tells Gemma about the missed flight. She insists they pay Rita back as soon as possible. Once alone with David, Jesse fishes for a confession regarding the money. David plays it cool.
