Plot[]
Part One: Dee-Dee feels unsteady on her feet. She is shocked when she plays Joel's voice message. Fiz is tired and has no appetite. Tyrone plans a romantic surprise dinner to make up for her ruined birthday celebrations. Stu is taken aback to find Mason already in the restaurant eating a breakfast he has made. He explains he wanted to avoid another beating from his brothers. With no agreement so far on Paul’s funeral, Billy suggests to Bernie they choose the flowers together. Dee-Dee plays the message to Lisa who reckons it could be a genuine suicide note. Kit pinpoints Joel's last whereabouts near Colclough Wood. Unable to access her voicemail from Turkey and waiting for news of a loan, Sarah asks Adam to check them on her behalf. Fiz experiences dizziness at the factory and a worried Izzy books a doctor’s appointment for her. Roy finds a way for Billy and Bernie to compromise on the flowers. Todd asks if a decision has been reached on where to scatter his ashes. Kit and Lisa find Joel's car parked under a railway viaduct with a suicide note on the dashboard.
Part Two: Yasmeen rejects Stu's suggestion that they put Mason up at No.6. Lisa informs Roy, Carla and Dee-Dee that they think Joel has committed suicide. Dee-Dee isn't at all convinced, thinking he's playing them again. Lisa suddenly clutches her stomach. Carla is concerned about her. Bernie is still bothered that Paul isn't getting the send-off that he would have wanted and wants to bury his ashes in the root of a tree. As Adam listens to the voicemails, he’s shocked to come across one from Damon Hay. Lisa breaks the news of Joel's supposed death to Lauren, saying her nightmare is over. Fiz is late to her surprise meal, seeing Dr Gaddas. She's shocked to hear that she might be pregnant. Dee-Dee drives out to the viaduct and looks further afield. She checks with Lauren who sends her a tracker screenshot of where Joel was several days earlier. Using that data, she finds another car hidden under some tarpaulin.
Part Three: Dee-Dee rings Lisa about her find. Fiz obtains a pregnancy testing kit. Adam listens to Damon's message which tells her that he's read about Bethany and left her some cash in a lock-up. The car is checked back to a third party and the police are trying to trace the owner. Dee-Dee is sure that the suicide scene is faked. Roy supports the possibility of the theory, but Lisa runs off when she gets a sudden message. Stu fails to get Mason into a shelter. The police have found that Joel's flat has been broken into. They find the notepad on which the suicide note paper was taken from and realise it was all planned in advance. Yasmeen gives in and offers Mason a room but is petrified of the neighbour's reaction as she lets him into No.6. Fiz tells Izzy she's pregnant.
Part Four: Fiz thinks it adds another complication to her and Tyrone's relationship. She goes home and finds a romantic meal set out and Cassie ready to take the girls out. She blurts out her news to him. Billy tells Todd that he and Bernie seem to have reached an agreement to split the ashes. He is unaware that she wants to send the ashes into space. An enthusiastic Dev tells her she should do want she wants. Dee-Dee is convinced that Joel is playing them all along once more. Sarah rings Adam to thank him for his generous crowd-funding donation. He doesn't tell her about Damon's message. Fiz and Tyrone discuss the pros and cons of another child. Carla talks up a depressed Lisa. The police find a link between Joel and the second car and realise he's set them up again.

- A man from a bank who turns down Sarah Platt's loan application via a phone message in 11375, and Sarah's standard voice mail message in 11376, are both uncredited.
- Location recording for the viaduct scenes was carried out at the disused Martholme Viaduct near the town of Great Harwood in Lancashire. The farm field where Joel Deering's second car was found is located at the other end of Martholme Lane and not adjacent to the viaduct as depicted in the episode.
