Plot[]
Part One: It's the day of Joel's plea hearing. Dee-Dee laments that today would have been her wedding day. Sarah tells Bethany that Daniel had to leave because of Bertie. Bethany can't stop crying and thinks she's ruined her life. Gary and Maria are shocked to see Mason arriving for work at Speed Daal. Stu refuses to sack him when he's done nothing wrong. Bethany tells Sarah that the clinic offered her a discount so she thought "why not?". Sarah has to admit that her insurer won't cover her and her hospital bill is at £25k and counting. Fiz and Tyrone agree to keep a closer eye on Hope from now on. Billy discovers that Paul's funeral is happening on their first wedding anniversary. Lisa joins Dee-Dee, Ed and Ronnie in court. Daniel returns to the street and finds out about about Bethany's stoma from David. David confesses that he knew Bethany was having surgery. Joel fails to appear in court. The Judge grants a bench warrant authorising his arrest on sight.
Part Two: David explains that he spoke with Bethany on the phone and she said she was thinking of giving liposuction a go, but he didn't think she was serious. Hope steals some vapes from the shop. Gary looks into getting a restraining order against Mason. Daniel warns Daisy that Sarah's gunning for them. Dee-Dee turns on the tracker app to find Joel but there's no signal. Joel watches his ex from across the street. Todd offers to move the funeral to the next day. Billy refuses as it'll clash with the rave. He realises he'll have to suck it up. Lisa lets Lauren know that Joel's absonded. Lauren's terrified that he'll come after her so Lisa arranges with Max for her to stay at No.8 for the night. While they are talking, Lauren steals Lisa's police-issued can of CS spray from her handbag. Roy's perturbed when a drunken Joel stumbles into the cafe at closing time, clutching a bottle of whisky, and locks the door behind him. Bethany goes into shock. A morose Joel tells Roy that he avoided court as he couldn't face his accusers. Roy picks up the phone to call the police but Joel rips the receiver off the wall.
Part Three: Joel is unusually contrite, apologising to Roy for getting him banged up. Roy's unnerved and appeals to him to hand himself in. Carla interrupts them but lets Joel go in order to attend to Roy, who's slumped on the floor. Out of sight, Joel pours the whisky on the ground. The doctor informs Sarah that Bethany has pneumonia. Aadi demands that Hope return the vapes or he'll tell the police and her parents about the theft. She hands most of them over but secretly retains one. Dee-Dee risks staying in the shop flat by herself. Gary finds out from Adam that as Mason hasn't offended he can't get a restraining order against him. Hope butters up Fiz with birthday chocolates. Roy tells Dee-Dee and Lauren about Joel's visit and that he seemed more of a danger to himself than anyone else.
Part Four: Daniel tries to access Bertie's trust fund but discovers it'll be weeks before he can lay his hands on any cash. David sets up the crowdfunder for Bethany and Daisy uses her socials to get the word out. They avoid saying that Bethany had liposuction so as not to put people off. Gary hangs out at Speed Daal in order to keep an eye on Mason. Lauren hears something in the garden at No.8 but it seems to be just the gate blowing in the wind. Stu and Yasmeen are concerned that Mason is sporting a black eye. He denies his brothers gave it to him. Daisy accidentally tells Jenny about Bethany's cosmetic surgery. She's sad that her safety net is gone now that Daniel's committed to Bethany. Bethany is stabilised. Mason sneaks back into Speed Daal after closing time with a sleeping bag. Joel, in a terrible state and sporting a scratch on his face, records a voicemail for Dee-Dee, telling her that maybe there's something he can do to make everyone happy. He says goodbye to her.
