Plot[]
Part One: Toyah worries that the consultant wants to see her in person. Leanne assures her that she'll be back in time from meeting Rowan to be with her. Sean guesses that Dylan missed out on his trial shift at Speed Daal as he's worried about Mason and tells his son that he's rearranged it for today. Kevin is stressed out, worried about Abi's return later today. Joel moves that last of his things into the corner shop flat. Dee-Dee tells him she's arranged for Michael to help him move in a chest of drawers that she likes and which he knows is in Lauren's flat. Leanne speaks to Rowan about the article, but he manages to pull the wool over her eyes, saying it's all true but he's turned his life round since thanks to the Institute and she can do the same. Dylan begins his shift. Maria calls in to see that he's okay. Leanne speaks up for Rowan when Toyah asks her what happened. Toyah lies that her appointment has changed to avoid having her sister with her going on about positivity, but a supportive Nick sees through her her deception.
Part Two: A happy Abi has returned from Essex and makes it clear to Kevin she wants to forget all about Stefan. Joel gets Lauren out of the flat by giving her money to go shopping for maternity clothes. Paul's family gathers to hear what he wants to say. Billy loses his temper with them when they continue to sulk with each other. Paul plays them a prerecorded message telling him that he’s dying, he can’t bear any more fighting and right now he needs his mum more than ever. Dylan sneaks into the precinct flats, not seeing a beaten-up Mason sheltering nearby. Toyah is grateful when Nick joins her at the hospital. Stu spots Mason at the precinct and offers to take him back for food and get cleaned-up. Refusing, Mason explains it was his brother who beat him up. As Michael helps Joel move the chest of drawers from the flat, Ronnie takes a look in the fridge and remarks that it’s packed with ready meals for one. Mr Tagoe tells Toyah that her biopsy has confirmed that she has germ cell ovarian cancer.
Part Three: Toyah needs surgery within the next two weeks to remove the one infected ovary and will also need chemotherapy, but her chances are good. Joel makes an excuse that the meals must belong to a decorator that the letting agent has been sending round. Mason sneers at Stu's attempts to help him but the man won't be put off by his bravado. Bernie apologises for the pain she's caused Paul. He tells her that Kit is the one she should say sorry to. He reluctantly accepts her apology and the family make up. With the chest of drawers now brought back, Joel makes excuses to Dee-Dee that he has to go out and see the letting agent. He sends Lauren a note to say it's safe to go back now. Debbie is surprised when Abi says that she missed Jack like crazy but doesn't mention Kevin. Despite not wanting to hear endless talk about the Institute, Toyah steels herself to tell Leanne. Sean is shocked when he and Dylan enter Speed Daal and find Stu and Yasmeen fussing over Mason. Dylan runs out while a shocked Sean tells the couple just who the lad is that they are helping.
Part Four: Sean erupts in anger and makes a scene, demanding that Mason keeps away from him and his son. Stu refuses to let the lad leave without eating a meal. Leanne breaks down when she hears Toyah's news. Joel waits in the flat for Lauren who is calling at No.8, trying to find Max. Maria spots that she is pregnant. Leanne spoils the moment when she goes on about the Institute helping Toyah. She and Nick argue until Toyah screams at them to shut up and runs out of the room. Mason tries to persuade Stu and Yasmeen that he was also a victim of circumstance, but they aren't impressed and tell him to leave. Debbie tries to get Kevin to tell her just what the problem is between him and Abi. Bernie's family play "Who am I?" at the Rovers. Kit hints that he's found somewhere close to live. Joel is on edge when Lauren finally returns, wanting more money from him. Leanne and Nick calm down and Nick agrees to respect Leanne's beliefs. Tired of the arguing, Toyah announces she doesn't want them involved in her treatment in any way.
