Plot[]
Part One: Thinking that Roy is unconscious, a crying Lauren tells him that the video that the yobs uploaded brought her back and she's sorry that she was too scared to return and see him before. A nurse mistakes her for Nina and assures her that he'll be fine. They fail to notice that Roy's eyes are flickering open. Lauren leaves but is roughly dragged into a family room by Joel. He tries to calm her, saying he just wants to talk and help her, as he's always done since he first met her...
Joel recalls his first meeting with Lauren in September 2023 when she was charged with trashing the salon and he found out that she was alone in the world.
Joel tells Lauren how that encounter led to him meeting Dee-Dee and asks her not to mess up his engagement to her.
As Lauren moves into the precinct flat, Joel visits with a bottle of wine as a house-warming present and then starts to lend her money under the pretence of acting as a protector and advisor.
Lauren confirms to Joel that she had to blackmail Ryan to pay him back.
On bonfire night, Lauren breaks down as she tells Joel she has no money for food or heating and is struggling. He assures her that he's there for her and will help with her rent and other bills. She doesn't know how to pay him back and sleeps with him for the first time as a recompense.
Joel denies using her for sex in return for cash. As Nina passes the family room, Lauren tries to flee but he prevents her. Nina hears a noise within.
Part Two: Nina walks on.
Lauren remembers the numerous occasions they had sex and the first time that she refused him, and he became aggressively violent with her. In early December, he gave her the present of the necklace which she likened to a collar around her neck.
Joel acts hurt when she tells him that as their physical relationship became more violent, he gave her bruises that Bobby saw on her shoulder.
On 23rd February, Joel bursts into Lauren's flat, angry that she has been avoiding him. Unable to escape, he insists on more violent sex and sees red when she threatens to tell Dee-Dee what he's been doing. He pulls her to the floor and clubs her unconscious with a chair leg. He begins to panic that he's gone too far and takes the necklace and Lauren's phone before fleeing the flat but leaving the door on the latch. On the floor, her fingers twitch.
Lauren tells Joel that was when she had to disappear, before he killed her. She insists it all ends now but he refuses to let her leave the room. As he pushes her back, she protectively clutches her abdomen and he's shocked as he realises that she's pregnant.
Part Three: Lauren confirms to Joel that he is the baby's father and she's now five months gone. She now feels maternal towards the child but insists that he will have nothing to do with it. Joel's manner and demeanour changes and he lies that back in February he was in a terrible state after assaulting her, wanting to flag down a passing ambulance but it sped off.
Joel instead calmly makes his way to his car and drives off without fetching help. Returning later to clear up the flat, he spots Bobby making his way inside and has to wait for him to emerge. When he does so, Joel discovers that Bobby has locked the door behind him. Back in his car, he screams in frustration and fails to spot the necklace falling from his pocket beneath the seat. His anger increases as he is later unable to find it. He remains cool in the coming weeks, surrounded by posters asking for information on the missing girl.
Joel tries to assure Lauren that he searched everywhere for her and he hates himself for hurting her. He lies that he's seeing a counsellor who's helping him work through his issues, caused by his mother having an affair when he was a child and his father suffering depression as a result. Roy regains consciousness and Nina is puzzled as he mutters Lauren's name. Joel spins a yarn to Lauren that his father used him as a punchbag when he was young and now he wants another chance with her.
Part Four: A weakened Roy insists he saw Lauren by his bed. Nina questions another nurse who says she's seen no other visitors. Lauren tells Joel she doesn't believe a word he says and that he drove her away from being among people who cared for her for the first time in her life. After he battered her, she begged for money and bought a coach ticket away from Manchester. She thinks she provoked him by mentioning Dee-Dee's name and has realised that he cannot cope with having both his dream woman and his "bit on the side". She therefore wants him to have nothing to do with the baby. She tries to escape again, and this time manages to after a brief fight. Joel gives chase but is delayed by a phone call from Dee-Dee, wondering where he's got to. Lauren jumps into a taxi and yells at the driver to drive off. Joel gives chase but has to give up as the vehicle speeds off.

Notes[]
- Due to schedule changes caused by the Euro 2024 championship, this episode was transmitted on Tuesday 9th July at 8.00pm and was made available to stream on the ITVX video-on-demand service at 7.00am on the same day.
- This episode contained numerous flashbacks to incidents not seen on screen before, but nevertheless connected to previous episodes. These are in italics above and are placed within the previously established timeline as follows: The first meeting between Joel Deering and Lauren Bolton occurred in Episode 11053/4 (7th September 2023); Lauren decided to move into Flat 4, Weatherfield Precinct in Episode 11055/6 (11th September 2023); Lauren's blackmailing of Ryan Connor for £1,000 to pay Joel back was in Episode 11089/90 (18th October 2023), she received the present of the necklace in Episode 11127/8 (4th December 2023); and Bobby Crawford finds Lauren's flat empty in Episode 11196/7 (21st February 2024), an episode which had been intended to be broadcast on 23rd February but was changed due to football.
- One flashback that was taken from a previous episode was that of Bobby Crawford seeing the bruises on Lauren's shoulder which was lifted from Episode 11192/3 (16th February 2024). This constitutes Bobby's only appearance in 11309.
- Richard Lynn directed all of the episode, except for the extended flashback sequence of Joel Deering attacking Lauren Bolton and leaving her for dead in 11309. That scene was filmed back in December 2023 at the same time as the scene in Episode 11196/7 (21st February 2024) of Bobby Crawford finding the empty flat and was directed by Kevin Boyle.
- A police officer on the reception desk at Weatherfield Police Station in 11310 is uncredited although he has a line of dialogue.
- The upper and ground floors, stairwell and lift of the Coronation Street Experience building doubled for parts of Weatherfield General seen during Lauren’s escape, whilst the exterior of the Tony Warren building at the MediaCity studios was, as usual, used for the entrance and car park of the hospital.
- Kate Waters was the fight arranger for all the scenes in Weatherfield General and the first scene in Lauren's flat of Joel grabbing her. Renny Krupinski was the fight arranger for the later extended scene in 11309 where Joel assaults Lauren which was the one recorded in December 2023 and directed by Kevin Boyle.
- TV Times synopsis: Roy drifts in and out of consciousness while a visitor disappears from his hospital bedside. When the cafe owner tells Nina about his visitor, she questions whether he was hallucinating.
- Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast: 4,018,000 viewers (8th place).
- Due to the football, no episodes were shown on Wednesday 10th July or Friday 12th July. Instead, the next episode was broadcast on Monday 15th July.
