Plot[]
Part One: Craig apologises to Kit for hinting that he did something untoward regarding Gemma and is given a cold response. Roy thinks he ought to visit a supposedly ill Shona, but Evelyn tries to put him off. Gary gets a call from Sarah asking him to go with her to the police station. A remorseful Leanne assures Nick that she is going to spend the day looking after Toyah. Dee-Dee and Joel make arrangements for his move into the corner shop flat. At Dev's request, Evelyn leaves Roy alone to cover at the corner shop. Maria is stunned to get a letter saying Mason is due to be released from prison in a couple of weeks. Roy heads out of the cafe to take some homemade soup to Shona but he is confronted by a gang of yobs calling him "creepy Cropper". He rushes away from them. Rowan calls Leanne asking her to attend the taster session for new recruits. Toyah offers to go with her. Roy is trapped in Victoria Gardens by the yobs. Carla rushes to his aid but it is clear he is suffering a pain in his arm.
Part Two: Back at the cafe, Carla fusses over Roy as Evelyn finds out what happened. Craig confides in Beth that he’s worried he’s made an enemy of Kit and tells her about the shoplifting incident. Roy is surprised when a panicking Shona comes to see him. He gets her to admit that she was never ill, and Roy sends her and Evelyn packing, blaming them for making him emerge from hiding. Betsy suggests to Carla she might like to employ her full time but is stung when Carla gives her short shrift. Leanne is delighted to see an enthusiastic Amy amongst the attendees. Toyah hides her concerns. Going to police station to question Mason's release, Maria is stunned to find Sarah and Gary there together. He's forced to tell her about the £10,000. She's livid and tells Gary she's finished with him. Having seen an ambulance going past, Nina and Shona return to the cafe and find Roy collapsed and being given CPR by paramedics that he's summoned.
Part Three: Roy is taken in the ambulance to the hospital, accompanied by a weeping Nina. The doctor suspects stent failure and takes him straight to the operating theatre. Complaining to David about Gary's actions, Maria realises he knew about the money. He drops Gary in it by also telling her that he assaulted Nathan. She demands to know if he's still in love with Sarah. Betsy tries again to speak to Carla, but she rushes off when she receives a text about Roy. Gary tries to convince Maria that Bethany was uppermost in his mind when he helped Sarah and nothing else is going on. Toyah lies to Leanne that she understands why people who have suffered trauma find the Institute's methods helpful. Craig squirms when Beth buys Kit a pint. Carla joins Nina, Shona, Dee-Dee, Joel and Evelyn at the hospital as they anxiously wait for news of Roy.
Part Four: Evelyn stops Nina blaming herself for leaving Roy on his own. Kit denies doing anything for Gemma when Beth blabs to him. The doctor reports that Roy's surgery went well but he's going to be in for several days. Toyah tells a puzzled Nick that she's trying to get more dirt on the Institute by making out that she's no longer hostile to them. Carla is appalled to find out that the yobs have uploaded a video of them hassling Roy. Joel offers to drop off an overnight bag for him. Maria calls on Sarah, demanding an assurance that there isn't something going on between them. Joel spots someone with their hood up sneaking into ITU. Bethany receives the CCTV footage of her card being used in the Leicester pizza shop, but she and Sarah can't see their face. An unconscious Roy receives a visitor - Lauren.
