Plot[]
Part One: Paul worries that he'll slur his words during the interview and listeners won't understand him. Roy calls the cafe to speak to Nina but hangs up when Shona passees the phone to Carla. Steve's already had three matches since switching to the dating app Abi recommended. Tim suggests he ranks the women by category to decide to which one to meet first. Nick's surprised when an atypically mellow Leanne lets him buy an expensive new 77" TV for the flat. Leanne's keen to revive Damon's idea of expanding the business with pop-up stalls. Dee-Dee's annoyed when Adam dumps Alya's secretarial work on her. She insists they do an equal share as she's a partner now. A cab arrives to take Paul and Bernie to the interview but it's not big enough for Paul's wheelchair. The driver is dismissive, telling them they'll have to find another car. Roy has another flashback of Lauren and Max in the cafe, but before he can work out its significance a prison officer bangs on the door and breaks his concentration.
Part Two: Steve asks out one of his matches, Carole. Abi's cheesed off when Kevin chips in with sexist remarks. Bobby thinks he and Carla are in the clear as the police haven't turned up. Carla assures him it's just a matter of time. Nick asks Toyah if she'd manage the bistro while he and Leanne get the pop-up restaurants started. She turns him down, explaining that she's too much of a mess to be in charge of people right now. Adam suggests to Dee-Dee that they pull out of the joint work they're doing with Fabian's. She accuses him of being petty because of Alya and orders him to suck it up. Paul and Bernie make it to the interview in time. Carole agrees to meet Steve for lunch. Nina goes to the prison to see Roy but he doesn't turn up in the visiting area. Amy interviews Paul. He talks from the heart about the difficulties he faces with MND and the lack of understanding he gets from other people. He becomes impassioned as he reveals that the council funding for the support group has been withdrawn and they'll have to pay for a new venue. Getting carried away, he swears live on air. Roy is found collapsed in his cell.
Part Three: Nina's told that Roy is on his way to Weatherfield General but not why. Amy copes well with Paul's profanity but worries about how her station manager will react. Toyah suggests to Nick that they sign up the bistro to a rehab programme for ex-offenders. Nick's interested but Leanne refuses to employ criminals. Shona warns Steve that Carole is probably snooty as she's from Prestbury. Nina and Carla try to find out what's wrong with Roy. Carla isn't allowed in to see him as he removed her from the prison visitors list. Adam has a conference call with Fabian's. Alya sets up a face-to-face meeting with him; he tries to get out of it but she knows when he's free. DS Swain arrives at the hospital to question Roy. Nina and Carla discover that he fainted due to dehydration. Swain tells Carla that Roy called her and asked for a meeting. Amy's boss tells her they loved the interview. Swain is the first to speak to Roy when he awakens. She asks what he wanted to discuss as Carla looks in from the window.
Part Four: Going against his principles, Roy tells Swain that he was just asking if there was any progress on the case. She's annoyed and threatens to charge him with wasting police time if he does so again. Steve's convinced that Carole sees him as a bit of rough and doesn't want to date her anymore. Dee-Dee jokes to Alya that she and Adam keep winding each other up because they fancy each other. Alya reveals that she's been offered a transfer to the Dublin office to gain experience in corporate law. Nick apologises to Toyah for not standing up to Leanne. Tim encourages Steve to meet Carole and enjoy himself. Paul and Billy are moved when the students set up a crowdfunder for the support group's new venue and raise £800. Radio Weatherfield does a piece on the interview and gets the word out. A man listens with interest from his car and writes down Paul's details. Carla thanks Roy for not reporting her and Bobby to Swain. He tells her that her deceit isn't something he can move past and as far as he's concerned, this is the end of their friendship.
