Plot[]

Part One: Roy hesitates to face the world before taking Freddie for his walk. On the day of his sentencing, Dylan claims he's not received a text from Violet. Nina is appalled when she reads about some amateur sleuths who've been digging at the bat roost site, hoping to find some evidence against Roy. He decides to go there to restore things and Nina offers to go with him. Tim implores Steve not to take Tracy back. In front of Bethany, Daniel and Max swap angry insinuations that each of them knows more about Lauren's disappearance than they're letting on. Roy and Nina head out with shovels and bin bags. Eileen rings Violet, telling them to respond to her messages. Hannah, Paul's new PA arrives. Billy is nervous when she admits she usually deals with old people. In court, Dylan pleads guilty to carrying a knife, much to Sean's horror. Returning to the cafe and having heard from her uncle about the two men who locked him in, Nina asks him to skip the vigil. He refuses and finds DS Swain waiting for him to take him to the station again.

Part Two: Having been handed a community service order, Dylan thanks Sean for all his support. Roy somewhat perplexes Swain with his guileless and honest answers, especially about why he was at the bat roost site with a spade. Tommy calls at the florist's and begs Amy to have a word with Tracy for him as he'd like a chance to explain himself before he leaves. She refuses. Paul is slurring his words and Hannah struggles to understand him. A photo of Roy with is spade with the word "killer" superimposed over it is posted online. Dee-Dee phones Nina to say her uncle has been released and is going straight to the vigil. Carla runs to intercept him. Daniel tells Bethany he's been suspended from the STC due to his being questioned over Lauren. He realises Max informed them. Sean and Dylan return home to find Eileen there with Violet, who asks waspishly if there's something her son would like to tell her. The vigil begins at the precinct. Some lads recognise Roy and accuses him of being a pervert. As he addresses the crowd and speaks fondly of Lauren and how much she meant to him, they film him. Nina begs him to stop.

Part Three: Roy's friends try to protect him from further abuse. Dee-Dee arrives and orders her client to leave. Eileen reveals she called Violet about not being at the hearing and discovered she had no idea about what had been going on. Violet tears a strip off Sean for his lousy parenting skills and communication. Despite Tim's reservations, Steve joins a dating site and uploads a profile picture. Evelyn, Carla and Nina urge Roy to keep a low profile, but he remains resolute. Paul worries about his speech. Billy denies anything is wrong. Daniel barges into No.8 and accuses Max. An angry David throws him out. Left to themselves, Violet argues against Sean's excuses and tells him she needs to get him away from Weatherfield before things get any worse. A fretful Nina confides in Carla how worried she is for Roy. One of the lads from the vigil throws a stone through the cafe door window.

Part Four: Dylan refuses to return to London and is hurt when Sean puts up no arguments. Violet orders her son to pack his things. Summoned by Carla, Swain calls the cafe where Evelyn and Carla disparage her efforts and what she has brought upon Roy. He speaks up for the officer, saying the real priority is to find Lauren's killer. Swain is given pause for thought. Billy admits he's scared when Summer says he's not facing reality. Carla begs Roy to start thinking of others, especially Nina, and listen to their concerns. Sean sobs as Violet takes Dylan away in a taxi. Roy tells Nina he's taking a step back, but he's upset when she receives a video that is circulating on social media of his wording at the vigil, edited to make him sound creepy and sinister.
