Plot[]
Part One: It's Valentine's Day. Summer's concerned to see Billy taking painkillers for his back. An unhappy Liam returns to school as his suspension ends. Lauren turns down Bobby's offer of a date in order to study for her GCSE. Leanne's annoyed that Nick forced Simon out of the flat and accuses him of playing favourites. Nick insists that Simon can't be around Sam as he's a liability. At Billy's behest, Summer brings Dewey back to make good on his offer of a motorbike ride for Paul. Paul's thrilled and makes a reluctant Billy ride shotgun, with him in the sidecar. Mason and Dylan continue to taunt Liam. Bethany tells Daniel that Chit-Chat are running her article against her wishes. Leanne sees Simon huddled on a bench in Victoria Street and is horrified to realise he's been there all night.
Part Two: Paul's exhilarated by the bike ride. Billy's in agony and snaps at George when he asks about the vehicle. Simon pours his heart out to Leanne, telling her that Nick's right that he's a waste of space. Lauren can't get the set books she needs for her exam as they've all been loaned out. Gary tells George it's his fault that Liam punched Dylan as he urged him to stand up for himself. Bethany realises she has no choice but to keep quiet about the article and hope nobody reads it. Billy's about to unveil another Valentine surprise to Paul when a bunch of rowdy stags come into the bistro, one of whom, Benno, recognises Paul from school. It's clear Paul isn't happy to see him but he's too polite to say so. Bobby offers Evelyn a brandy if she can source copies of Lauren's books at the charity shop. The schoolboys tease Liam while he's working on his marionette. Mason grabs the puppet and stamps on it, making Liam cry. Dylan records the proceedings on his phone. Billy's gift is a barbershop quartet singing Everytime We Touch for Paul. The moment is ruined Benno interrupts and jokily puppeteers Paul. Billy sees red and punches him.
Part Three: Billy's mortified by what he's done. Simon tells Leanne that drinking makes him feel better. Leanne worries that he's turning into Peter. Liam makes out to Maria and Gary that school was fine. Back at the flower shop flat, Paul rows with Billy, saying he'd rather they'd ignored Benno. The police arrive to arrest Billy on suspicion of assault. Leanne lets Simon sleep it off in the flat and tells Nick he's staying, whatever he thinks. Nick doesn't have the heart to fight her on the issue when he hears that Simon slept rough. Evelyn gets most of the books for Bobby. Lauren is touched that he went to the effort and admits she was just going to watch the film versions. She invites him along. Dylan questions whether they're being too hard on Liam. Speaking with Mason, George recognises the behaviour of a bully. Paul waits at the police station for Billy.
Part Four: Bethany feels guilty when Daisy sincerely thanks her for yesterday, saying how good it felt to clear the air. Billy's released without charge when Dee-Dee argues that Benno was being ableist and Billy's offer of an apology is accepted in exchange for dropping the complaint. Carla finds Bobby and Lauren snuggled under a blanket at the Street Cars flat watching Jane Eyre. She's amused to realise he's turned the thermostat down and told Lauren the heating is broken. Explaining his moody behaviour, Billy admits to Paul that he's been suffering from back pain, and also confesses to Summer turning down the chance to study in America for him. Liam is withdrawn at home and refuses to eat any dinner. Billy explains that he's doing all he can to make sure Paul doesn't have any bad days, as one could be enough to make him decide to end his life. He asks Paul not to hate him. Paul replies that he could never.
