Plot[]

Part One: Tracy and Daniel earwig as Peter and Carla argue in the back yard. Peter throws the plane ticket down on the table and tells the Barlows that Carla is kicking him out. He storms out of No.1 and heads home. Going after him, Carla assures Peter that she loves him but says that having heard him bare his soul at the support group meeting, she's realised that he needs something she can't give him. He's insistent that he's happy in Weatherfield and calls her cold for encouraging him to abandon Simon. Going for a walk, Peter reflects on his and Carla's previous ups and downs. He returns, calmer but still reluctant to go as it means leaving Carla. They're in tears as they contemplate the end of their relationship.

Part Two: Peter suggests to Carla that they both go to Bilbao. Carla says they'd end up resenting each other. He accepts that he needs to get away to heal but considers taking a later flight to give himself a chance to get his head around the idea and say a proper goodbye to everyone. Carla tells him that if he isn't in Spain by tomorrow night, Mickey will set sail without him. Peter goes to pack. As they sit down to their last meal together, Carla suggests that they don't contact each other while he's away; if they keep in touch, she won't be able to resist going out to join him, and that's not what he needs. She assures him that she'll always love him. Ken, Daniel, Adam, Tracy, Amy, Leanne, Toyah and Bertie bid an emotional farewell to Peter the next morning as he heads out with his holdall. Simon isn't there as his phone is switched off. Boarding the tram, Peter smiles as he looks forward to a brighter future.
