Ed packs a bag and tells Aggie that he's coming to spend Christmas with her in Birmingham. As he heads out, Tony bursts into No.3 and tells him he's going nowhere.
Part Two: Ed begs Tony to give him until the end of the week. Tony refuses as he needs the money to buy Christmas presents for his family. His punches Ed in the face to show that he means business. When Ed says he doesn't have the money, Tony orders him to pawn all of the presents under the tree to come up with the sum, threatening to tell his family what a loser he is if he doesn't. Roy and Cassie set off on their trip however the Woody fails to start. Paul's chair loses power on the street and he realises he's forgotten to charge it. Dee-Dee decides to get Ed a special present to cheer him up. Cassie borrows a customer's Porsche to take to Edale, telling Roy that it's a mate's. Carla accompanies Peter to a support group meeting. Encouraging him to be open about what a struggle life has been for him lately, she's shocked when he tells the group that he feels like he's empty and plodding through life. Ed reluctantly obeys Tony, taking all of the Baileys' Christmas presents from under the tree, including Glory's wendy house.
Part Three: Peter tells Carla that his life doesn't have purpose. She's heartbroken to realise the depths of his despair. Dee-Dee buys Ed a watch with an engraving reading 'For the world's best dad. Our hero'. Jenny struggles with the guilt at lying about where the Rovers money came from. Gemma and Paul finally arrive at the concert only to find they've missed Joseph's solo. Glenda persuades the boy to do an encore for them. Jenny discovers that Waterford have received another offer on the pub so they'll have to submit a sealed bid. Peter assures Carla that their marriage isn't the cause of his depression. She promises to help him find a new purpose in life. As they're hashing it out, she ignores a call from Rob Donovan. Roy and Cassie return with Evelyn's present in hand. Dee-Dee and Michael arrive at No.3 to find Ed in tears nursing a cut lip. Clocking the lack of presents under the tree, Dee-Dee asks if they've been robbed.
Part Four: Too ashamed to admit what happened, Ed goes along with Dee-Dee's assumption, saying he was thumped after interrupting burglars. He doesn't want the police involved but Dee-Dee calls them. Cassie notices a scratch on the Porsche while closing up the garage. Craig goes over the details of the burglary with Ed. Ed says he forgot to lock the back door. Peter gets a photo album for Ken's Christmas. Ed feels guilty at the wave of support he receives from his family. They're proud of him for taking on the burglars.
