Plot[]
Part One: Peter receives a letter from the hospital. Crystal tells Debbie that she and Ryan are off to Glasgow tomorrow. The Platts expect Gail's family lunch to descend into another slanging match. Gail's adamant it won't and takes up Lily's suggestion of having a nice box, where everybody writes kind things about each other and puts them in anonymously. Michael covers Ed's half of the Christmas food fund when Ed says he hasn't been to the bank yet. Nick, Sarah, David, Shona, Sam, Max and Lily join Gail at the bistro. Carla and Jenny ask Audrey if they can borrow Stephen's journal to look for clues to the Seagull password. Audrey only offers to look through it for them as some of what Stephen wrote is too personal to share. She retracts the offer when Carla says she doesn't care about the confidentiality of a madman. Tim finds Peter still troubled by taking Stephen's life and suggests he needs a distraction. Daisy tries to make Jenny see that she deserves a cut of the money Stephen stole but Jenny doesn't agree.
Part Two: Audrey reads out the messages from the nice box. Most of them are juvenile and she wonders why she bothers. Daisy makes out to Daniel that she and Jenny are buying the Rovers together to show that she doesn't need him or Ryan. Peter joins Tim in No.4's hot tub. Tim advises him to count his blessings and forget about Stephen. Peter doesn't think he can living in the street where it happened. Debbie accuses Ryan of leaving because he's still in love with Daisy. He insists he's committed to Crystal. Daisy interrupts the meal at a closed bistro and, seeing all the Platts' coats hanging up, takes David's house keys from his pocket. Sarge insists on paying his way and gives Ed £75 for the turkey and trimmings. Audrey makes the Platts write down more compliments for the nice box but Gail's children continue to make snide remarks about the idea. Sam pulls the adults up for their behaviour, noting that he would be grounded if he behaved so childishly. Daisy lets herself into No.8.
Part Three: Peter confides in Tim that his and Carla's relationship might have run its course as they seem to live separate lives these days. Tim encourages him not to give up as Stephen will have won if he does. Sam sets an example by saying nice things to each of his family members aloud. Shamed, his elders follow his lead, some more reluctantly than others. Daisy searches No.8 for Stephen's journal. Ed bets the Christmas dinner money on a horse. Audrey can't find the words when it's her turn to speak at the bistro. Ed's horse loses. Peter's dismayed when Carla arrives home only to immediately head back to work when the factory alarm goes off. Audrey abandons the meal and returns to No.8, trapping Daisy upstairs.
Part Four: Audrey picks up some things and leaves. Daisy lays the keys on the table and heads out through the garden. Jenny spots her and demands to know what she's up to. Daisy admits she was looking for Stephen's journal but couldn't find it. Peter looks wistfully at the tour boat he and Carla turned down online. Daniel accuses Ryan of running away to ease his guilt. Audrey decides to get rid of everything of Stephen's. Daisy sees her bin his journal and retrieves it. Debbie gives Ryan her blessing, saying he deserves happiness. Audrey tells the Platts that reading the journal brought home the fact that Stephen was never a part of their family. She says she's going to starting appreciating what she's got and not dwell on the past. David suggests that if family's so important, she should make him sole manager of the salon. She decides to interview him and Maria for the job. Daisy tries to get into the Seagull file using words from the journal. With only one attempt left, she gets in using 'Tofino' based on a postcard stashed inside. The password opens Stephen's bank account, with a balance of £247,023.75.
