Plot[]
Part One: Chesney gets cheap decorations from the market for the early Christmas. Joseph is still unwell. Liam boards the bus to school but gets off when he sees Mason glowering at him from the back seat. George realises what's going on when Liam says he forgot his bus fare yet refuses his offer to sub him. Bernie suggests to Gemma that she give Joseph lavender-infused tea to perk him up. Max pays for a flustered Lauren's magazine in The Kabin. Joseph drinks the foul-smelling concoction Gemma has prepared. Shona lets Lauren leave work early in order to repay a favour. Ed's keen to see the back of Granadad Sarge but Ronnie advises him not to take his jibes to heart. Joseph comes downstairs complaining that his stomach is killing him. He suddenly turns limp.
Part Two: Chesney calls for an ambulance. Sarge asks to borrow £2,000 from Ed and Ronnie to set up another food truck in Dominica. Ronnie agrees to put up half of the funds but Ed's reluctant. Lauren presents Max with a new watch to thank him for all he's done for her. She assures him she can afford it as she's been promoted at the call centre. George tells Liam about his experience of being bullied by Frank Bardsley and how he wishes he'd spoken to an adult about it at the time. Joseph is rushed to hospital. Chesney is furious with himself for ignoring Gemma's warnings. Nina tells Asha she's got a pub crawl with her college mates tonight but offers to cancel for her sake. Asha tells her not to worry as she's doing something with Isla. Sabrina asks Lauren why she's buying her boyfriend expensive presents and accuses her of playing games. The doctor breaks the news to Chesney, Gemma and Bernie that Joseph has been poisoned.
Part Three: The doctor tells the disbelieving family that Joseph has ingested something harmful. Gemma suggests to Bernie that it was the lavender tea. Sabrina is shame-faced when Lauren tells her she isn't after Max, she only wants a friend. Ed asks Ronnie why he should put his hand in his pocket for a man who was never there for him. Ronnie encourages him to be the bigger man. Bernie brings over a lavender packet to show that it's harmless. Gemma realises that she's given Joseph lavender essential oils by mistake. Sabrina calls on Lauren to apologise for getting the wrong end of the stick. Lauren accepts her offer of friendship. Bernie tells the doctors about the mix-up with the lavender. They say Joseph will be fine now that they know the cause but Gemma isn't comforted by the news, feeling like a terrible mother. Chesney's irritated when she continues to insist that Joseph was ill beforehand. She asks her husband if he knows she didn't do it on purpose but he doesn't answer.
Part Four: Chesney assures his wife that he knows it was an accident. George tells Gary about Liam bunking off school. Gary asks the lad if he's having trouble with Mason but Liam insists they're mates. Ed promises to transfer the £1,000 once Sarge is back in Dominica. Joseph is kept in for observation. Ed invites Sarge to stay for Christmas to show that he isn't trying to get rid of him. Nina supposedly returns from her night out but when she looks at her phone, she reads an apology from the her mates for bailing on her. Asha invites her to lunch with her work mates tomorrow so she can see that she and Isla are just mates. Nina agrees. Bernie closes up the cafe for the day and discovers that the till is £80 short. Chesney assures Gemma that he trusts her completely. Child protection officer Caitlin Edwards arrives after the doctor raises concerns about Joseph's care.
