Plot[]
Part One: Darren stops taking Dev's calls. Paul struggles to walk with his stick outside the flat, but refuses Billy's offer to fetch the wheelchair. Ed's ears prick up when he hears the horse racing on the cafe radio. Bernie overhears Daniel talking about getting Bertie a tablet and offers to fix him up with one half-price. Ed, Ronnie and Debbie plan a celebratory meal at Speed Daal when the contract on the development is signed. Stu and Alya record a 70th birthday video message for Yasmeen, who's still in Pakistan. Alya suggests getting Yasmeen's friends to do the same. Paul puts two and two together when Billy observes that Todd's new laptop is the same model as the one he gave Summer. Dee-Dee admits to Adam that she turned down a date with Joel to spend the evening with him. She tells him her friends come first. Paul catches Bernie sorting out of a load of parcels addressed at Shelly.
Part Two: Paul's angry with Bernie for risking jail to make a few quid. He softens when she hands him everything she's made, saying she did it for him. Felicity Hassall tells Stu that Eliza has decided to stay with Dom for the time being. She advises him not to be so overbearing with his granddaughter. He decides to back off for a while. Amy admits to Dev that she knew about Aadi and Courtney. Kirk adopts a dolphin-friendly diet. Dev begs Aadi not to throw away his future for a bit of fun. Paul tells Billy about Bernie's scheme with the laptops. Billy leaves it up to him whether to accept the money. He decides to keep it but to tell Bernie not to sell any more. Dee-Dee arrives at the bistro for lunch with Adam and finds Joel waiting for her. She's touched to learn that Adam went behind her back and engineered a plan to get them together. Darren calls Courtney to say he's starting divorce proceedings. She's devastated as she signed a prenup and won't be entitled to anything. Ed is late to lunch at Speed Daal. Paul heads over to Shelly's flat with some vinyl as a present for her. Struggling with his walking aid, he trips and falls, breaking the record. Paul calls for help when he finds himself unable to get back up, but there's no one around.
Part Three: Ed explains Ronnie and Debbie that he got the times mixed up. Kirk tells Ed that he saw him in Curzon Street but Ed denies being there. Paul rings Todd who shows up to rescue him. Dee-Dee and Joel swap family histories. He's impressed that she's James Bailey's sister. Paul tells Todd that he didn't call Billy as he would try to use the incident to get him in the wheelchair. Hope, Sam and Eliza help Roy record his message for Yasmeen but Eliza thinks Stu must not care about her as he didn't ask her to make one. Her friends tell her she's wrong and Sam makes a suggestion. As Todd drops Paul off back home, Paul tearfully admits to Billy that although he doesn't want the wheelchair, he knows it's time. Darren confirms to Dev that he's dropping him as a business partner. Dev's gutted. Billy and Summer help Paul into the wheelchair. Summer takes him for his first ride in it and he surprises himself by enjoying it. Billy convinces him to brave the Rovers.
Part Four: Paul gets a warm reception from everyone in the Rovers. He's grateful when they treat him like a friend and not an object of pity. Ronnie's concerned that Ed was in Curzon Street as there are three betting shops there. He invites his brother to confide in him if he's struggling. Ed insists he isn't. Eliza sends a video of her singing "Happy Birthday" to Yasmeen on Stu's phone. He's relieved to know that she hasn't shut him out. Paul tells Bernie that he'll need the money and assures her that he appreciates her help. Joel kisses Dee-Dee after their date. Paul leaves a voicemail for Shelly explaining that he got waylaid on his way to her flat. As he's ringing her phone, Shelly's carer Jim lets paramedics into the flat and tells them that she's died in her sleep.
