Plot[]

Part One: Adam has spent the night on Peter and Carla's sofa but Peter points out to him that they don't have the room to make it a permanent arrangement. Audrey and Gail counsel Sarah to give Adam time to calm down before she speaks to him. Aadi notices the picture has moved and now faces one of Sunita. Bernie hints that it’s Sunita’s spirit. Dev warns her to stop with supernatural nonsense. Jenny confides in Owen about the Rovers’ financial struggles, but rejects his idea to sell to the brewery. Stephen is annoyed to see the two of them talking together. Ed sees Daniel and Daisy looking over property websites in Roy's Rolls and offers them the builder's yard flat. Eliza happily browses her new tablet. Stu is jealous when Yasmeen tells him that Roy helped them win their latest pub quiz and they make a good double act. Dee-Dee offers Adam the spare room in the corner shop flat. Stephen suggests that Jenny reduces the portion sizes of the pub food instead of increasing prices. Sarah tries to salvage her marriage, but Adam is tired of her lies. As they row, she starts to develop a stomach pain. He thinks she's putting it on.

Part Two: Maria sees a doubled-up Sarah taking a taxi alone to the hospital. Dev gets angry with Bernie when she continues to talk about the spirits. Ed offers Gary some shifts at the yard. They are unhappy with the lack of meat in the hotpots they buy and Jenny is forced to give them replacements on the house. Stu humiliates himself when Yasmeen and Roy talk about seeing an exhibition about Ajax and thinks they're talking about the cleaning product. Adam is alarmed when Maria tells him about Sarah's hospital trip. Ryan shows Peter his anonymous social media account, where his gym body pictures receive numerous likes. The Rovers electricity suddenly cuts out. The midwife is alarmed as she conducts Sarah's scan and fetches a doctor. Dev is furious when he catches Bernie moving another photo in No.7. The doctor breaks the news to Sarah that the baby has died.

Part Three: The customers walk out of the darkened pub, just before Gary fixes the problem, though the oven remains broken. Daisy is annoyed when Daniel takes up the offer of the flat without consulting her. The midwife tells a distraught Sarah the next steps to allow the pregnancy to abort from her body. She assures her crying patient that she didn't bring the miscarriage on herself. Aadi walks in on a blazing row between Dev and Bernie about her actions. She claims she's doing it to convince Paul that there is an afterlife, making Dev even more angry. Adam finds a broken Sarah at the hospital and is shocked to hear the baby's dead. She tells him that she's having the foetus taken out now under a local anaesthetic. He promises to wait for her. Eliza is evasive about what she's looking about on her tablet. Roy and Yasmeen return to No.6 full of the exhibition. There is an uncomfortable atmosphere between the Roy and Stu. Jenny has to order a new oven. Owen suggests that she raises Glenda's rent to market levels. Back at the flat, with the procedure over, Sarah is further upset when she finds out from Adam that the baby was girl. He blames himself for the stress he put her under as Gail arrives to comfort her daughter.

Part Four: Dev tells Paul what Bernie did, but having cooled down, sympathises with her need to convince her son about an afterlife and asks him to keep an open mind for her sake. Owen chats to Glenda about her cheap rent but she doesn't take the hint. Annoyed with his interference, Jenny dumps him for being a patronising know-all. He thinks Stephen is behind it and walks out. Adam tells Daisy and Daniel about the miscarriage. Daniel sees that the news has got under his skin and tells him that it shows that Sarah is the one for him. Paul takes Bernie out for a drink and tells her he's trying to be more open-minded for her sake. Jenny tells Stephen that she and Owen have split. He tries to big her up about being able to overcome her financial troubles. Adam calls on Sarah and, while admitting that he's behaved appallingly, too much has happened and he can no longer trust her. He asks for a divorce.

Notable dialogue[]

Jenny Connor (talking about the Rovers): "When I moved round 'ere I was a teenager, you know, and...and my life was...upside down. It was proper chaotic. I used to walk past and I'd see the light through the windows on a rainy night, an' I'd 'ear the laughter an' the music. An' it just seemed like a place where people could come an' everythin' would be alright with the world, an' that's what I want this place to be."
