Plot[]

Part One: Leanne, Nick, Simon and Sam celebrate Toyah and Spider's engagement. Spider receives a text message from his pursuer with instructions to meet in the Freshco car park. Behind David and Shona's backs, Max and Lauren prepare to go to Highfield Prison. A happy Adam tells Daniel he's arranged to announce the pregnancy to the two families in the Rovers later on. Daniel thinks he ought to wait until the DNA results are in writing. Gemma receives a message from Henry Newton to meet, as well as a barrage of further insults from Beth. Chesney asks Kirk to persuade her to back off. Sarah tells Adam it's too early in the pregnancy to go public. In radio contact with two of his police colleagues sat in a nearby car, Spider waits in the car park. Sabrina sees Max and Lauren at the tram station and isn't impressed to find out where they're going, even when Max tells her that he's only doing it to support someone in need. Leanne prepares to leave Sam alone to go shopping. Before she departs, a woman calls at the flat, saying she's Spider's ex, Layla.

Part Two: Kirk reminds Beth of what Gemma is going through with Paul, and tells her how truly sorry she is for her mistake. At the prison, Max is unnerved by the sight of Reece. Layla seems troubled to find Sam in the flat with Toyah. Reece tells Max that he had no choice but to help Griff as he was threatening Lauren. They ask the stunned lad to make a statement backing up their story and he realises he's being used. Leanne bumps into Spider and tells him about Layla's visit. He's alarmed as he knows his wife isn't in the country. He rings Toyah and tells her that the woman is an imposter. She tries to act normal but "Layla" spots that she seems suddenly nervous. Aadi moans that he feels he's wasted in the corner shop and Amy offers to take over some of his shifts. Asha and Nina instantly spot that Aadi fancies her and are amused. The Barlows and the Platts wait for Adam and Sarah in the Rovers. They all assume Sarah is pregnant, but they're underwhelmed when Adam tells them that he's just won a big trial. However, Daniel bursts in late and loudly toasts the new Barlow baby. Spider and Leanne race back to the flat and find it empty, with signs of a disturbance and blood on the floor.

Part Three: Spider reveals to a panicking Leanne that he was the probable target. She rings Sam's phone and finds out he is safe, playing chess with Roy. The baby celebrations are subdued as the families are all concerned about who the father is, and Tracy blurts the question out. Sarah walks out of the pub in embarrassment. Max makes it clear to Reece and Lauren how he feels about them. He leaves the prison. Reece orders his daughter to keep on trying with him. DS Swain questions Leanne and Sam about the woman they saw in the flat. Aadi admits to a teasing Asha that he's realised that he does like Amy. Sympathetically, she tells her brother that it's a bad time for him to make his feelings known. Lauren finds Max outside the prison. While she's trying to persuade him to change his mind, Spider runs up with the kidnap news and demands to hear what he knows about it. Toyah is bound and gagged in the back of a van driven by the woman. She tries to alert passers-by when they stop at roadwork lights but to no avail.

Part Four: Max denies any knowledge, but Lauren reveals a woman posing as a journalist contacted her, already knowing Spider was an undercover policeman, but asking her if he had a wife and family. Adam tells Sarah not to be bothered what their families think. Beth calls at No.5 and apologises to Gemma, admitting she's over-protective of Bertie. She offers her support over Paul and invites her to the Rovers for a drink. Spider rings his bosses, saying he knows who's taken Toyah and it has no connection to Griff. Chesney and Kirk are surprised to see their wives being friendly at the bar. Sarah and Adam return to the pub and tell the families about the DNA results. Beth admits to Kirk she's been miserable and has missed him. They are reconciled. David and Shona are angry to find Max talking to Lauren in No.8. Aadi gets a hug from Amy when he passes on Dev's approval for her to do shifts at the corner shop. Beth and Kirk call off a celebration meal to return to their flat for reunion sex. Hearing that Lauren has nowhere to sleep, David and Shona agree she can stay for a couple of nights. Spider reveals to Leanne that Toyah's kidnapper is someone from his past. The van is parked in a yard. The woman tells Toyah to relax as she's going to be there for some time.
