Plot[]
Part One: Peter returns from a trip away. The Gazette prints a story saying that a local unnamed gangster has been killed and Paul points out to Nick that the arrested hitman was Niall Granger. Sally celebrates her birthday and organises a get-together at the bistro. Sarah is taken aback when Owen asks her to do the pitch to his boss, Josie, for the Nippersnapper line. In the cafe, Gemma is on pins at the thought of the impending visit from social services. She and Chesney think Daniel dobbed her in but when Beth reveals it was her, Shona throws her out. Nick shows Adam the paper and they worry that Damon was the victim. Despite feeling unwell, Sam goes to school. Toyah complains to Leanne that she hardly sees Spider when he is so busy at work, and she agrees that she will leave them alone tonight to have the flat to themselves. Stephen tells Audrey that Elaine often has suicidal thoughts. Adam can't find out who Niall's victim is and advises Nick to have a story ready if the police should interview him about his business partner. Spider's welfare officer shows him proof that someone is following him, and they think it's Griff's gang. He's offered a new job which would mean moving away with a new identity.
Part Two: Adam begs Nick to keep quiet about his involvement in Damon's disappearance. Social worker Mandy Newhaven calls at No.5. Josie is delighted with the designs and demands that Sarah repeats her pitch on business trips to the US. Mandy finds out that Gemma was childminding without being registered and warns her she faces a substantial fine. Spider returns home to find subdued lighting and a romantic ambiance. He and Toyah are interrupted by Leanne returning with an unwell Sam. With Ryan quitting the bistro, she has to return to work where Sally is being demanding and Toyah has to babysit Sam. Sarah tells Dee-Dee that she wants to go to the US but without Adam's support she can't handle all her competing pressures. Gerry Northrop is at the bar in the bistro and Elaine introduces him to Sally's friends and family. Stephen is annoyed when Sally asks him to join them. Paul comforts a crying Gemma. Sarah sees that Adam is distracted. She sees him scrolling through her phone for messages from Damon and he tells her that he's done something really bad.
Part Three: Adam confesses how he got Damon out of the way. She's upset that he did it because he still doesn't trust her. Paul tells Gemma she can beat her depression and not to be ashamed of it. Toyah suggests to Spider that they take a trip away, but he evades giving her an answer. Sarah finds that she's bleeding and Adam instantly makes arrangements to take her to the hospital. A bored Stephen listens on as Gerry regales the birthday guests with his fascinating Tai Chi experiences. Gemma opens up to Mandy about how much she regrets her actions. Toyah tells Leanne that Spider is avoiding commitment with her. Adam holds Sarah's hand at the scan but when it shows that the baby is fine, he walks out of the room.
Part Four: Adam tells Sarah he was hit by the thought that the baby might not be his as the sight of it amazed him. Although Mandy won't be pressing charges, Gemma can't be a childminder anymore and she worries about the loss of their income. Adam is relieved when the news reveals that the victim wasn't Damon. Ryan packs to go to see Michelle in Ireland. Sarah and Adam are reconciled when they agree that they both want the baby. Back at their flat, Elaine is startled when she catches sight of Stephen pulling a face at her behind her back as she talks about Gerry. Sarah begins to stress that Adam will change his attitude if the DNA test shows that he isn't the father. Peter, Daisy and Daniel take an unrepentant Beth to task for sticking the knife in with Gemma and Chesney. Spider calms Toyah's nerves by telling her that he wants the two of them to live together. A saddened Daisy watches as Peter drives Ryan to the airport. Sarah confides in Dee-Dee that she's scared that she will be forced to choose between her husband and her baby if the DNA test proves that it's Damon's.
