Plot[]
Part One: The street begins to prepare for the Coronation. Elaine has spent the night at a hotel rather than in No.4. Tim won’t take Sally’s advice and apologise. Paul keeps quiet as Billy chatters on about visiting a dying parishioner. The vicar lets slip to Summer that Paul has money problems. Adam has to work, although it’s a bank holiday, when Sarah would rather that he spends time with her. In the cafe, Stephen makes arrangements for him and Elaine to fly to Las Vegas to get married. Shona overhears and passes on the gossip to the rest the family. Tracy is pleased that Amy is getting out of the house to meet a friend from university. Tim apologises to Elaine, but she thinks that Sally’s put him up to it and it isn’t long before he’s again voicing his suspicions about Stephen, causing them to row again. Sally finds out about the Vegas plan. George nips home from work to look over his model ship, annoying Todd who wants to laze around undisturbed. Sally tells Tim about Vegas but then worries that he’s going to do something stupid.
Part Two: Maria gives Damon and Adam advice about the application to the council for the bistro’s late licence. Amy boards the bus but has a panic attack when the only free seat is next to a man, and she quickly leaves the vehicle. Stephen asks a happy Michael to help Sarah run the factory while he’s away. Dee-Dee introduces Paul to Trish, a woman who lost her husband to MND. He’s not happy to talk to her, not being ready to face facts yet. Brian overhears George talking to Todd about his model ship and, having an identical interest, offers his help. Debbie offers Gemma a booking at the Chariot Square Hotel that's been paid for but cancelled. Eric Sandford calls on Aaron and tells him that his nan has died. Sober now, he thanks Abi for looking after his son and insists on taking them out for a meal. Tim gives Elaine and Stephen his blessing and offers to run them to the airport. Paul reluctantly listens to Trish and hears about the financial implications of his condition. Tim lures Elaine into his taxi and, distracting Stephen, drives her away.
Part Three: Tim takes Elaine to the precinct to talk. She refuses to change her mind and is outraged when he compares Stephen to Geoff. Tim agrees to drive her back. Steve sees that something is wrong with Amy, and she tells him about her panic attack, worried that she can no longer face the world. With Trish gone, Dee-Dee implores Paul to come clean to Billy. Bringing Elaine back home, Tim again voices his suspicions of Stephen, but his words are interrupted when Elaine has a funny turn. Todd finds George and Brian concentrating on the model ship. Over the meal, Eric tries to find out from Aaron why he and Summer split up. Abi stays quiet but stands up for him when Steve and Tracy enter the bistro and voice their disapproval of Aaron being there. Stephen finds out from Elaine that she suffers from high blood pressure. He’s struck by an idea and asks Adam for a word of advice.
Part Four: Summer tells Paul she’s looking for a job, wanting to help pay her way in the flat. Paul realises from her words that Billy has blabbed about him being skint. Audrey is upset that Stephen was planning to get married without telling her. Jenny finds out about the bistro’s late licence. Sarah stirs things up with her and Shona to the point where they plan to object. Stephen announces that Adam is drawing up a pre-nup to silence Tim’s fears that he’s after Elaine’s money. Todd comes home to find that Brian has brought his own model ship round for him and George to work on as well, and that his favourite mug has accidentally been glued to the table. Billy sees that Paul is on edge, but he hides the reason why. Stephen and Elaine decide to replan their Vegas wedding. Sally tells Tim that he’s wrong about Stephen and she’s a good judge of character. In the factory, Stephen applies a for a life insurance policy in Elaine’s name.
