Plot[]
Part One: Carla visits Ryan in hospital, trying to be upbeat. She is there when burns consultant Professor Antonia Campbell comes in to say that she will be handling the removal of his bandages later today. Eliza claims she's ill and unable to attend school. Yasmeen offers to look after her. Evelyn continues to be annoyed at Roy for walking out on her salsa lesson. Faye and Jackson arrange to meet in town for a drink after a job interview he's having. Daisy tells Debbie and Alya about Crystal's rejection of Ryan. Faye asks Tim to look after Miley while she's with Jackson, claiming that they're meeting to discuss childcare, but he sees through her lie. Ryan is on edge as his bandage removal nears, saying how tired he is of his constant pain. Stu is delighted to hear he's getting £200,000 compensation for his false imprisonment. Dee-Dee and Alya think it's derisory. A guilty Beth tells Kirk she can’t join him for a meal he has booked as she is meeting some old pals for a drink. Ryan's bandages are removed with his psychologist also present. As Ryan stares at his face in the mirror, he's horrified by the extent of his wounds.
Part Two: Carla tries to talk Ryan into being positive about his progress. Faye lies to Craig that she is going to meet a girlfriend who needs a shoulder to cry on. Professor Campbell breaks the news to Ryan that he is not healing as they had hoped, and he needs a skin graft which will be carried out that afternoon. He breaks down crying at the thought of the pain and Carla has to console him. Daisy frets about telling Ryan about Crystal. Roy attends an appointment with Dr Gaddas and describes how he’s been suffering chest pains and breathlessness. She tells him she’ll arrange for some tests. Faye meets up with Jackson in a hotel bar. When Beth arrives with Marco in tow, she and Faye share horrified looks, each having been caught on a date with their ex. Yasmeen discovers that Eliza is being bullied at school because her mum is in prison and makes an appointment for Stu to see the head. Dev overhears him talking about his compensation and apologises to him for how he behaved towards him. They shake hands on it. Daisy and Carla discover Ryan is missing and his backpack has gone.
Part Three: The nurse is concerned Ryan might catch sepsis from his open wound. Carla and Daisy set off to find him. Stu promises Eliza he will do the best he can to look after her. Faye tells a disbelieving Beth that she was sorting out parenting with Jackson. Beth admits that being with Marco has made her realise she loves Kirk. They agree to keep each other's secret. Daniel, Dee-Dee, Ronnie and Debbie join in the search for Ryan. Faye is taken aback when Jackson tells her that he wants her to live with him and leave Craig. They kiss. Daisy and Carla find Ryan by the tram station, clearly traumatised. Roy calls on Evelyn and tells her about his chest pains. She's instantly alarmed. Daisy and Carla have trouble convincing Ryan to return to hospital as he sobs that he has nothing left in his life.
Part Four: Carla talks Ryan round. Beth tells a disappointed Marco that she's staying faithful to Kirk. Roy admits he's worried about his health. Evelyn insists on accompanying him to the hospital, hiding her own concerns for him. Beth is shocked to find Kirk moving out of the flat, having been sent the photo by Hope of her kissing Marco. He refuses to listen to her entreaties. Stu is depressed about the mess that his family is in. Daisy tells Daniel and Jenny that she can’t bring herself to tell Ryan that Crystal wants nothing more to do with him. Fiz lets Kirk stay the night at No.9. Faye returns home with Jackson in tow, but she’s taken aback to find Craig there baking cookies with Tim and Miley. Ryan receives a text of support from Crystal, unaware that Daisy has sent it from her new phone. He's taken away for his operation.
