Plot[]
Part One: Reece returns the Speed Daal van to Victoria Street in the early hours of the morning, just before Maria and Alya appear to begin setting up the stalls for the peace festival. Leanne joins Toyah who has kept a vigil over a still-unconscious Spider. He is going to be operated on again as a complication has developed. Damon asks Jacob to work a full time job at the bistro on double the money he’s getting at Underworld, saying he wants him working for his businesses. Once his son has gone, Damon rings someone to say that although Jacob is wavering, he thinks he's going to take up the offer. Chesney implores Gemma not to make a scene with Mrs York when she and Bernie go to Bessie Street School. As Max wakes up on the campsite, he notices the van is missing and is told that it's at the bottom of the canal. Griff tells him to keep away from today's protest at the market. Roy's phone is still irritating him. Stephen tries to come up with reasons for Jenny not to take Teddy in. A panicking Max goes to Griff's flat to pack, bringing Lauren up to date on events and scared of what the gang is up to. The residents have heard about Spider's true job. Inside the van, a bomb has been fitted.
Part Two: As Max flees the flat, Lauren takes a call from her dad, warning her to steer well away from the market today. A worried Max tells her to call the police while he goes to the peace festival to try and find out what's happening. Jenny returns from the hospital with Teddy in tow and helps him into the Rovers. Stephen watches in despair. Jacob hands his notice in to Carla who warns him he’s making a mistake. Mrs York is totally dismissive of Joseph’s BSL skills and also Gemma's situation with having a child who needs that form of communication. Maria begins the peace festival as Max runs up trying to warn the participants to evacuate. They refuse to listen to him as he tells them about the returning van. Bernie and Gemma decide to stage a sit-in in a classroom. Michael is horrified to find himself locked in with them and explains that he only called in to discuss Glory’s start date at nursery. Alya finds the bomb with a ticking timer attached.
Part Three: With no idea how long the countdown has to go, Alya drives the van away, despite her grandmother's pleas. Gemma sets up a livestream from the classroom. Griff's gang make Reece abscond with them, despite him being desperate to find his daughter. Damon brusquely tells Nick that his son is now a full-time employee on double pay. Michael is persuaded that the protest is a good thing. Maria and the organisers are appalled to hear about the bomb and decide to ask people to leave in case there is a second device. Max is horrified when Yasmeen puts the blame at his door. Alya can't find a place without people to leave the van in and her desperate grandmother suggests waste ground near the canal. Dev shows Chesney the livestream and they leave for the school. Peter can't get anyone interested in his bartering idea. Carla has to tell Roy what he's done when he sends an aubergine emoji to Nina as she's shopping. Max rushes into No.8, asking for David's help and regretting moving out in the first place. As the police arrive, Victoria Street is cordoned off. The bomb explodes just as Alya parks the van and attempts to get out.
Part Four: Alya lies unconscious next to the burning vehicle. Gary sets out to look for her as the police search Speed Daal and begin investigating the outrage. Stephen is concerned when Jenny suggests to Teddy that any photos on his phone from Canada might jog his memory. Damon tells Jacob he needs him to take delivery of a package tomorrow. Jacob starts to regret his decision. A despairing Yasmeen cries with relief when Craig brings a battered Alya home. Mrs York refuses to be swayed by the news of the livestream and locks the protestors in the classroom for the night. Spider comes round. Teddy is surprised that there are no photos of Leo in Canada on his phone. Alya is checked out at the hospital. The police haven't caught Griff though the others have been taken into custody. Spider thinks Max is a victim of grooming. Bernie, Gemma and Michael settle in for the night with Chesney and Dev's blessing. David decides Max needs to go to London and be with Shona but Craig calls and arrests the remorseful lad. The neighbours watch as he is taken away.
