Plot[]

Part One: Shona and David try to hide Max's departure from Lily. Sarah tells a squirming Stephen that her business venture is all set to go once he provides the funding. He tells her he needs just a couple more days. Asha and Nina plan a "secret cinema" trip. Billy sees something on his phone which worries him. Sean, Dylan and Laurence return from their night in the Peak District having thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Todd shows signs of boredom as Sean exults over it. Laurence thinks that it's him he doesn't like. Carla thanks Stephen for the spreadsheet advice she gave him and accepts that he does know what he's talking about. Alone together, Laurence tells Todd that it’s clear he doesn’t like him and would welcome a chance to change his mind. Elaine apologises to Stephen for backing out of giving him a loan. Bigging it up to her, he suggests rather than lending him the money, she should invest directly through Sarah. Carla gives Sarah the job of cleaning up a leak in the toilets and when she answers back, reveals that she knows all about her and Michael's plans. Sarah bites back, telling her that her management style stinks and everyone thinks so, giving an embarrassed Sally as an example. She invites all the staff to join their new operation but none take her up. Sarah announces her and Michael's immediate resignation.

Part Two: Sarah has to assure Michael that everything will be fine. Hearing the news, Gail tells Sarah that she needs to speak to her uncle about his investment. Spider tells Toyah about Max moving in with Griff. Sarah approaches Stephen who doesn't deny that he's totally broke. Billy tells Aaron that Summer has denied him access to her diabtetes app on his phone. Summer calls at Mike and Esther's house, handing over her wages from a Christmas job she obtained. Surprised, they invite her in. Elaine changes her mind and offers Stephen the money, provided he is involved in the start-up. He rings Sarah with the news. Todd thaws to Laurence and they open a bottle of wine. Asha and Nina can't get hold of Roy to cover for them for their cinema trip as he is refusing to use his mobile phone. After having checked, Elaine breaks the news to Sarah and Michael that her new house purchase has fallen through. Todd leans in and kisses Laurence. With little choice Sarah and Michael return to the factory and beg Carla to give them their jobs back. They are shocked when she introduces Sarah's replacement - Stephen.

Part Three: Stephen tells Sarah that he will use his new influence to allow them to use the factory's facilities and hears that Elaine's investment has been pulled out. An offended Laurence storms out of No.11. Aaron searches for Summer. Stephen suggests to Elaine that she still sells her house and lives at No.4, freeing up the funds. Elaine doesn't think Sally would stand for it. Toyah warns a shaken David that Griff is a dangerous violent man, and he needs to get Max out of his grasp. Summer reveals to Mike and Esther that she's been living in a hostel. Mike gives her the cash back and they invite her to move in with them. Michael stresses how he can support Glory with no job. Toyah reports back to Spider that she's warned David as best she can without revealing his part in the matter. Carla formally introduces Stephen to the staff who question him about taking Sarah's job. Sally puts herself forward to help him settle in to jeers from the others.

Part Four: As she shows him the computer system, Stephen easily flatters Sally, and talks up about how much Elaine thinks of her. With Summer settled in, Mike drops hints that she should think about the surrogacy again. Roy apologises to Nina for causing her to miss her cinema trip. Nina angrily points out if he’d use the mobile phone she got him, he could have called her. Stephen watches on with satisfaction and Elaine thanks Sally for offering her a place to stay. Elaine sets the wheels in motion to go through with her house sale. Spider calls on Griff and finds him giving Max self-defence lessons. Sean meets Laurence for a meal and observes how subdued he is. Laurence tells him what happened with Todd. Elaine sells her house. A furious Sean confronts Todd. Billy and George despair of his behaviour. Stephen watches on impatiently as Elaine transfers £12,000 to him. He listens in as Jenny takes a call from Teddy who is returning from Canada and has some new information regarding Leo.
