Plot[]

Part One: Max heads off on his camping trip, without David's blessing. Nick worries when Damon announces he's staying around for a while to see more of Jacob. Damon introduces himself to Leanne as an old friend of Nick's when she catches them together at the bistro. Nick goes along with the lie, telling her that he's lending them money to help them get back on their feet. She isn't keen, especially when he admits that Damon is Jacob's dad. He assures her he's trustworthy. In the woods with Griff, Spider, Ollie, Dave and Reece, Max disobeys Griff by refusing to skin a rabbit Reece has found and killed. Evelyn sends word that she's staying with friends and won't be back for Christmas. Unbeknown to most of the campers, Griff has a bomb in his car boot.

Part Two: Sean points out to George that he'll have to get Eileen out of the house to swap the sofas around. Griff leads the campers on a drive. Max sees the bomb when he puts his jacket in the boot. Damon orders Nick to find a position for Jacob at the bistro. Nick is forced to go along with it. Daisy and Daniel await the result of Daisy's mammogram and ultrasound. Daisy's mind is momentarily taken off her own problems as she comforts a man there to support his mother who has advanced cancer. She and Daniel are relieved when the specialist reveals that the lump on Daisy's breast is benign. Griff pulls over when he smells burning from the boot. From the other car, Spider sees Griff's car explode. Fiz finds a good deal on a cottage in the Lakes and decides to take the family away over Christmas. Tyrone is aghast as it threatens his wedding plans. Griff, Reece and Max make it out of the burning car but Max has been knocked unconscious by the blast.

Part Three: Max is alive but Griff refuses to let Spider call an ambulance, opting instead to take Max to hospital in the other car while the others dispose of the wreckage. Nick offers Jacob a job as a waiter. Damon convinces him to accept when he explains that he needs him at the bistro to keep an eye on things for him. He agrees to work evenings and keep the factory on. Tyrone asks Hope and Ruby to tell Fiz that they don't want to go to the cottage. He lets them in on his secret wedding plans to secure their cooperation. Max is treated for burns at Littlecroft Hospital. He's stable but kept in overnight due to a concussion. Spider is appalled when Griff tells the doctors he's Max's dad. Carla is annoyed that her MVP can't work overtime anymore, while Simon is puzzled as to how Nick and Leanne can afford another waiter. At Shona's urging, David leaves a voicemail for Max saying he's sorry. Griff tells the doctor that a gas canister for the stove overheated and exploded during a family camping trip.

Part Four: As Max regains consciousness, Griff orders him to tell anyone who asks that he can't remember anything. It's clear that Max has misgivings but he follows the order. The girls tell Fiz they want to stay home over Christmas and she drops the cottage idea. Leanne finds out that Nick has employed Jacob when Carla teases her for poaching her staff. She confronts Nick and finds out it was Damon's idea. Jacob asks Nick not to tell anyone he's related to Harvey. George suggests to Eileen that they spend a few nights at his, having arranged for Sean, Laurence, Mary and Todd to get rid of the old sofa in her absence. She agrees. Daniel reveals to Daisy that his article failed to make the grade and won't be published. Daisy urges him to take up teaching again as he's wasting his talents. Amy's upset that Jacob will be working at the bistro as she'll never see him. Spider finds out from his handler that the burned out car was found with all evidence of the bomb removed. He's ordered to continue with the investigation. Unable to bear Toyah hating him any more, he tells her he's an undercover police officer. She doesn't believe him and tells him to stay away from her.
