Plot[]

Part One: Kelly doesn't believe for a second that Laura killed Rick. Gary and Maria tell her they were as surprised as she was by her mother's confession. Sally and Tim wait for the all-clear from the cardiologist. Phill tells Fiz he's been forced to resign from the council. They wonder how they're going to afford the renovations on the new house. Craig goes to withdraw his resignation from the police. Imran promises Toyah he'll be back soon to look at wedding venues as he sets off to prepare Abi for her custody hearing. Fiz puzzles over the lack of offers on No.9. The estate agent tells her that people are being put off by the street's history of sinkholes and advises her to drop the price. Craig says that Peanut has to go now that Faye is pregnant. Laura hasn't been charged for Rick's murder after hours of questioning. DS Beckett isn't convinced of her guilt and asks how Gary got her to take the blame for him.

Part Two: Dr Handley clears Tim to start having sex again. Tim kills the call and takes Sally in his arms but Elaine interrupts them before they can get down to business. Kelly goes to the police station with Gary but they aren't told anything about Laura. Imran is waylaid as he looks in on Alfie at the hospital. Laura gives the police the same account of Rick's death that Gary previously told her, but with her in Gary's place. DS Beckett doesn't believe a word. Sally tells Tim she's cleared the air with Abi. Tim packs Elaine off to the cinema with Cathy and Yasmeen so that he and Sally can have No.4 to themselves for a few hours. Gary accepts that it's the end of the road for him if Laura tells the police the truth. Kelly looks for proof that Rick is still alive in order to exonerate her mother. Laura gives Beckett a crucial piece of evidence in support of her story. Tim and Sally are role playing as doctor and nurse when Elaine bursts in. Beth bumps into Emma and Jon on a dog walk and asks Emma to introduce her to her friend. Kelly is horrified to read a news alert on her phone saying that the police are looking for a body at County's new training site.

Part Three: Gary shocks Kelly by saying that he would kill someone, under the right circumstances. The Metcalfes are unimpressed when Elaine tells them that the mystery film was Psycho and she and her companions walked out as they didn't fancy it. She's embarrassed at having spoiled their plans and leaves them alone again. Toyah calls off the wedding venue search and tells Imran it's right that his attention is on Abi. The police find a body at the construction site. Fiz tells Tyrone that it's in all their interests to lower the asking price on No.9 and get a quick sale. He doesn't agree. Tim doesn't perform well in the bedroom and blames it on all the interruptions. Beth tells Faye and Craig that she saw Emma with her old school friend, Martin. They smell a rat when Beth mentions that she seemed unsure about his name. The police call at Gary and Maria's flat.

Part Four: PC Windsor confirms that the police have found Rick's body and Laura has been charged with his murder. With her confession, the case is concluded. The officer also reveals that Laura has taken a turn for the worse and been transferred to hospital. Kelly breaks down, utterly bereft, and demands to see her mother. Craig and Faye accuse Emma of seeing Jon behind their backs. Emma swears she isn't. Gary and Kelly visit Laura in hospital. Laura tells Kelly that she and Rick had a fight over money and she killed him by accident while defending herself. Kelly doesn't want it to be true and asks Laura why she confessed. Laura explains that she couldn't let Kelly wait her whole life for Rick to come home. Thinking it's the last time she'll see her daughter, Laura says goodbye and tells her she loves her. Kelly is too angry to return the sentiment. Privately, Laura tells Gary that she confessed for Kelly's sake; she's going to lose her anyway, but she doesn't have to lose him. She demands that he find a way to live with his guilt and be a good dad to Kelly. Tim decides that Elaine needs to go for the sake of his marriage.
