Plot[]
Part One: Ken and Daniel have spent all night in A&E waiting for news of Adam's condition. PC Clements tells them that they haven't found Lydia yet, and there is no CCTV footage of the shopping centre's balcony. Daniel insists she tried to kill Adam. Sarah is unaware of the news and ignores Daniel's attempts to call her. Having cast their votes, Gary and Maria head out of the polling station at the community centre and pose for photos. Phill is quiet when Maria thanks him for his help. Tracy compiles a rota for the flower shop, giving Amy as many shifts as she can so that they can keep as close an eye on her as they can. Craig snaps constantly at Faye and Emma, unable to settle happily into a job where he's taking orders from Kirk all day. The doctor tells Ken and Daniel that Adam has suffered two cracked ribs and a broken radius, but he also has a bleed behind the eye and needs an operation to save his sight. Laura is hung-over. Unaware of the cause, Kelly thinks she's taken a turn for the worse. Maria summons Aggie to see her. Adam can't remember what happened on the balcony but doesn't blame Lydia, much to Daniel's puzzlement. Peter breaks the news to Sarah who's shocked but asserts that Adam's no longer her problem.
Part Two: Beth asks Craig to look after a flea-infested Peanut while they fumigate the flat but he can't as Faye is allergic to dogs. Beth clocks her son's bad mood and suggests to Faye that he didn’t really want to leave the police force and there’s more to it than meets the eye. Aggie tells Laura not to drink but once she's gone, she craves a drink, telling Maria that she's hurt that she doesn't have a proper bond with her daughter. Tracy tells Mary to help her work on getting Amy to return home. Carla urges Sarah to be there for Adam as she clearly still cares about him. Maria feels terrible as Phill admits he may lose his job over the leaked report and Kirk tells her he's been sacked as Buzzer the Bee. Enquiring about her mother, a furious Kelly finds out from Aggie about her drinking. Emma hides another date with Jon from Faye. Laura decides to teach Kelly to sew and make her an evening dress for the awards but, calling her the most selfish person she knows, Kelly tells her crushed mother she wants her out. The consultant ophthalmologist tells Ken and Daniel that Adam's operation has been a success and his wife is with him, but it is Lydia who appears at his bedside.
Part Three: Lydia assures him she's not there to hurt him, just find out how he is. Gary tries to cool Kelly and Laura down as they row. He makes Kelly go for a walk with him to get her out of the flat. Lydia tells Adam that she didn't mean for him to fall and couldn't live with herself if there's any permanent damage. He admits he remembers her pushing him but understands her anger, coming to terms with the way he's behaved in the past towards her. She cries at the thought of losing Finn if she is arrested. Sarah arrives at the bedside and follows Lydia as she flees. Faye attempts to surprise Craig with a night out but her plans fall flat when he points out he has work in the morning. Sarah and Lydia talk in the waiting area where she admits that she was behind the harassment and made up the evidence of the affair. She tells Sarah the worst thing was hurting her as she's the best friend she's ever had. Realising how she's been taken in, Sarah asks Lydia to fetch her some water and when she's gone, gets out her phone. Maria sees polling news that indicates that Bernard Barnes is beating her and she regrets ever getting involved in the election. Lydia tells Sarah she aborted the baby that she was expecting by Adam, just before the police arrive to arrest her. Jacob charms Mary, much to Tracy's annoyance. Sarah apologises to Adam for doubting him and he hears about the arrest. Gary and Bernie advise Kelly to give Laura a break. Returning with coffees, Sarah finds Adam's bed is empty.
Part Four: Despite his pain, Adam goes to the police station with Daniel to give a statement that he fell accidentally. Despite her allergy, Faye takes in Peanut to make Craig happy, but she can see that the effort hasn't worked. Lydia is let go and withdraws her complaint about Adam breaking into her flat. She thanks Adam and they declare a truce as they part company. Kelly returns to the flat, making an awkward peace with her mother. Laura asks Gary to become Kelly's guardian, as he’s more of a dad to her than Rick ever was. Craig admits to Emma that a part of him resents Faye for ruining his career, but he doesn't want to lose her. Maria comforts herself with drink in the Rovers. Phill breaks the good news to her that the council has rescinded permission to build the by-pass and County have decided to build their new training ground on the site of the derelict brickworks. She's delighted. Adam returns to hospital to recover. He tells Sarah that Lydia is right and back in the day he treated women appallingly. She tells him he's changed and she wants to be with him. Maria shows Gary the news announcement of the new site for the training ground. He's horrified as he admits it's the spot he moved Rick's body to.
