Plot[]
Part One: Sarah invites Adam to Harry's sixth birthday party and he reckons she's thawing, especially when she asks to see him for a coffee later on. He happily tells Daniel of the positive development. Steve and Tracy are pleased when Amy returns but it's only so that she can speak to Ken. Ron Fordham reports that he's seen Carl Grayson and wants to know more details of how Gary kept in contact with Rick when he was "closing down" his operations as the loan shark requested. Making out that he's changed his phone since, Gary promises to try and remember Rick's contact details. Adam turns up for the coffee in Roy's Rolls with flowers, only to be greeted by Sarah's news that she's filing for divorce. While she's distracted at the counter, Adam texts Lydia from her phone. Maria tells a delighted Kelly she's on the shortlist for the best trainee at the North West Regional Stylist Awards. An depressed Laura makes snide comments about the news. Sarah tells a surprised Daniel about the divorce. Setting his phone on record, Adam meets a surprised Lydia at a shopping centre's coffee shop, begging for a chance to be heard out.
Part Two: Amy shows Ken the spreadsheet budget she's drawn up and asks if he'll release the money from Deirdre's trust fund to pay for her degree. Impressed with her maturity, he agrees. Adam tries to get Lydia to admit that she tried to set him up but she spots his phone, snatches it out of his pocket and deletes the recording. As Ken prepares to transfer the cash, Steve begs him to think again. In the Rovers, Laura knocks back wine and morphine tablets, admitting to a concerned Bernie and Sean that she's done nothing but let Kelly down. Sarah sets up Speed Daal for the party. Daniel hears from Sarah about the texts from Adam to Lydia on her phone. He worries as he's breaking his bail conditions. Phill hands Maria a confidential council report proving that they are covering up the dangers of local air pollution increasing as a result of the new bypass. Amy rants at her parents when Ken changes his mind. Adam tries to follow Lydia to her car. When she produces her phone to ring the police, there is a short tussle, and the device falls off the balcony.
Part Three: Lydia tells Adam he's a narcissist who she fell seriously in love with, even though he cheated on her several times and then dumped her without notice. He tells her to move on but she cannot forget that his last words to her was to tell her to abort the baby she was expecting as a frightened nineteen year-old. A thoroughly drunk Laura reflects on her neglect of Kelly to Bernie. Lydia tells Adam of how hard it was when he ghosted her and how she drifted in her life without meeting any men she could trust. When she met him again, she was shocked how he denied ever knowing her. He realises how cold-hearted he was. Steve's not happy to find that Aadi has given Amy a job at the kebab shop. Adam makes Lydia realise he is genuinely sorry, but spoils things by asking her to come clean to Sarah. Steve asks Dev to override Aadi's decision but he refuses until Steve points out that Amy's living with Jacob, the guy who sold drugs out of his chip shop. Dev's furious. Daniel turns up at the shopping centre. He can hear the voices of Adam and Lydia arguing. In a rage, Lydia slaps Adam and then gives him an almighty shove. As Adam topples backwards over the railings and through an awning to the ground below, Lydia watches with horror.
Part Four: Lydia watches from hiding as Daniel rings an ambulance. She slips away unseen. As Laura stumbles out of the pub, Gary comes to her rescue, worried to realise she's been drinking on top of her medication. Maria and Kirk interrupt an interview that Bernard Barnes's giving to Chris Golding in the bistro. She hands Chris the confidential report that Bernard helped squash. An unimpressed Chris immediately takes Maria's side on the matter. Steve is unrepentant about his interference in Amy's life. Tracy thinks he's taking the wrong tactics and, worried that a lack of funds will turn Jacob back to drug selling, reveals that she's given Amy a job at the flower shop. Daniel rings her from the hospital with the news. Gary lies to cover Laura's activities and doesn't tell Kelly about her being drunk. Chris arranges for the story to be on the Gazette 's website within the hour but Bernard returns to the bistro and sees Phill with Maria and begins to suspect him. Sarah kills Daniel's call when he rings her from the hospital. The doctor tells Daniel that Adam needs a full body scan.
