Part One: Abi makes excuses that her cheating was ages ago and her head was in a mess. She lies to an angry Kevin that it was with Tez Wyatt. Kevin leaps in the camper van and roars off down Viaduct Street. Sarah tells a pleased Lydia that Jeremy Bremner is making trouble for Adam from behind bars. Jack finds Abi crying and thinks it's about the adoption hearing. Tracy sets out the bottles of wine that Ken bought her on the table with Steve and Mary invited to join her for an "educational" tasting experience. Stu explains to Yasmeen that he’s bought her a brazier. Thinking he said “brassiere”, Yasmeen’s taken aback. Lydia makes out to Sarah that her ex won’t stop hounding her with texts, just before Adam appears to speak to his wife. At No.4, a hysterical Abi begs Sally to call Kevin and get him to return. They are interrupted by a knock on the door by Kevin himself. Dev struggles to cope at the kebab shop and has to give Bernie a pay rise to get her to return. Izzy refuses to support her mother in her fight for Joseph. Bernie spots Dev again trying to chat up Linda. In the street, Kevin rails at Sally for keeping Abi's sordid secret. Jack walks into their argument and demands to know what's going on.

Part Two: They take the boy back to No.13 where Abi tries to explain that her grief for Seb caused her to lose her mind and make a mistake, but Kevin refuses to let her use that as an excuse and sends him out while they talk. Abi begs Kevin for another chance. Amy meets Jacob at sunset at the Aquaside Industrial Park and finds he's prepared a romantic picnic for the two of them. Abi calmly tries to talk Kevin into forgiving her, but his mind is full of the shock of the revelation. As they warm themselves in front of the new brazier, Stu pours Yasmeen a mug of Ken's posh wine, telling her it was one good bottle within Dev's delivery. Meanwhile at No.1, Mary, Steve and Tracy struggle with the disgusting selection of wines on offer. The two women lose their tempers with each other and Mary storms out. Bernie follows Linda to the Rovers and again tries to interfere in Dev's seduction of her. Jacob tells Amy that he doesn't want to interfere in her relationship with her family as his own is such a mess. They agree to keep their romance a secret. Outside Victoria Court, Sarah and Adam row over Lydia. The lady herself listens from round the corner, intrigued. Kevin drops the bombshell on Abi that he and Jack are going away in the campervan, and the two of them are finished as he can no longer cope with lurching from crisis to crisis. Therefore, when he returns, he wants to find her gone.

Notes[]

  • This was the final, regularly scheduled half-hour instalment of Coronation Street. On 24th January 2022, ITV announced that after over 61 years, as from March, the programme would be broadcast in hour-long episodes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8.00pm. In the event, the change was introduced several days earlier beginning with Episode 10574/5 (28th February 2022).
  • First appearance of Izzy Armstrong since 4th August 2021 and last until 11th January 2023. Due to Cherylee Houston continuing to isolate because of the COVID-19 pandemic, she only appears on Linda Hancock's phone.
  • Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this episode was made with social distancing rules being observed by both cast and production crew. Exceptions were occasionally made for instances in which characters were required to be in close contact. These were made in accordance with the rules by employing measures such as more frequent testing and cast members bubbling up together prior to recording. Part of this system, introduced from Episode 10092 (24th July 2020) onwards, was a "cohort" system whereby enclosed team of directors, cameramen, sound, costume and make-up staff, etc, would work in one studio at a time with only the actors coming in from "outside" the cohort to record their scenes, with the same set-up being replicated in the other studios. This ensured that any mixing was kept to a minimum. It also meant that a single director was not responsible for all the scenes in a given episode, but it was decided not to amend the credits to show multiple hands at the helm. The cohort system lasted until this episode, after which single directors helmed all scenes within their own blocks.
  • The scene at the Aquaside Industrial Park were filmed at the premises of Esprit Warehousing and Docks beside the MediaCity studios on Trafford Wharf Road.
  • TV Times synopsis: Kevin drives off in his campervan without Abi; and Stu gives Tracy a taste of her own medicine.
  • Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast: 5,201,000 viewers (15th place).
