Plot[]
Part One: Awaiting his hearing at school, Max is nervous that he'll be sent to a referral unit. David wonders aloud to Shona if it might provide him with the shock he needs to change his behaviour. Amy lies to Steve, telling him that the police called, and they've released Jacob pending further investigations. Gary finds that Kelly's bed hasn't been slept in. Adam calls into the factory and Lydia overhears him telling Sarah that the locks of their flat have been changed. She tells Sarah she's got herself a new man and eyes the key that Adam leaves with his wife. Max brushes aside Daniel's good wishes for the hearing and says he doesn't really care for his pupils. Amy meets up with Jacob who understands why she hasn't told anyone about the two of them as they all hate him, even though he insists he's changed now. Sarah tells Lydia that she and Adam are staying at the Chariot Square Hotel for Valentine's night. Going out for lunch with her husband, she leaves her keys behind in the office. Sally finds out that Elaine has made Tim a doorstop sandwich for his dinner rather than his usual smoothie. She plans a drink out with Abi and Elaine suggests she and Tim have a movie night together. A mischievous Sally tells Elaine that Terms of Endearment is his favourite film. Lydia lets herself into the flat and after snipping the heads off two red roses, leaves a note reading "Happy Valentine’s Day. It might be your last".
Part Two: Imran interrupts Adam's lunch to break the news to him that Jeremy Bremner has been arrested for making threats and denied bail. Sarah and Adam are delighted he can't get at them now. Adam realises he's forgotten his wallet. In the flat, Lydia has found it and takes a photo of his bank card details. Feeling guilty, Daniel tells Daisy he's going to admit to pushing Max down the stairs. Gary returns home to find Kelly packing her things. He begs her to stay until they've discussed matters. Steve and Peter wind up Sally about Elaine muscling in. To get her own back, she suggests to Steve that he joins Tim for the planned movie night. When Summer and Asha quiz Amy about Jacob's break-in, she defends him and Summer realises that he is the mystery boyfriend. Sarah tells Lydia about Jeremy's arrest. She has had a copy of the key made. Daniel interrupts the school meeting to plead for Max but before he can give his reasons why, Orla tells them that the governors have already agreed that he can stay. Lydia lets herself into the flat again and puts the Wi-Fi password into a burner phone, then sends a suggestive text from "Adam" to herself. She suddenly hears Sarah and Adam returning.
Part Three: Lydia quickly clears away the card and deadheaded roses before hiding. She makes her escape unseen. Asha and Summer won't accept that Jacob has changed. Laura is surprised when Kelly enters with her bags, saying she's come to live with her. She thinks she's turning down a good thing by moving away from Gary and Maria. Adam isn't pleased when Lydia calls back with some urgent office paperwork. Steve installs a CCTV camera in the backyard of No.1. Max doesn't show any relief at being allowed back into school. Sarah invites Lydia to stay for a meal. Refusing, she puts the burner phone down the side of the sofa. As Tim and Steve settle down for movie night, they’re horrified when Elaine starts up Terms of Endearment. Lydia asks to see Sarah, claiming she's upset and needs to talk. Sarah thinks it's about her new man and guesses from her reaction that he's a married man.
Part Four: Lydia asks her not to tell anyone. Daniel feels to has to clear the air with Max as everyone views the lad as the guilty party. Amy and Jacob meet up again and she warns him about the CCTV camera. He accepts that it's up to him to win people over. Daniel calls at No.8 and apologises for the problems his indiscretion caused. Max says it's cool, but once he's gone, he says Daniel's a creep. David warns him to let it go and not to screw up again. Daisy listens in as Lydia tells her that her man is her ex, who called her after she broke up with Daniel to offer her sympathies. Tim, Steve and Elaine are in tears as the film ends, having thoroughly enjoyed it. Sally returns and is put out that her prank failed. Kelly returns to Gary and Maria's. They're surprised to hear that she's thinking of taking up running. Lydia hides a present supposedly from Adam in her desk at work.
