Plot

Part One: Imran starts off 2022 by lying to Toyah that he went to see the fireworks last night, when in fact he was meeting Abi. Faye drives a still-tipsy Emma back from their New Year's Eve party. On their way home, they hit an old man, Ted Spear as he bends down to pick up his dropped shopping. Ted seems okay but he refuses Faye and Emma's pleas to go to hospital to make sure. He takes responsibility for the collision and lets the girls take him back to his flat. Tim and Sally kick off the new year with a smoothie as part of their new healthy regime. Faye loses a nail down Ted's sink as the girls stop for a brew. Arriving back in the street, Emma is troubled when Imran tells her she shouldn't have been supervising a learner whilst under the influence and if they had an accident, she would be in trouble.

Part Two: Craig suggests to Faye that they move in together. She's keen. Tim books him and Sally in for health checks with Dr Gaddas but worries when Peter mentions that it involves a prostate exam. Adam rows with Lydia for making their relationship out to be more serious than it was and making Sarah not trust him. The argument piques Daniel's curiosity. Roy and Mary play their annual NYD chess match. Nick leaves Sam with them when he shows an interest in the game. Emma can't stop thinking about Ted and decides to stop by his flat with biscuits to replace the ones they ran over. Imran has a clandestine meeting with Abi at Victoria Gardens. She admits she hasn't taken a test yet adding that, if she's pregnant, it can't be Kevin's as they haven't had sex for a while. Tim begins his health check by dropping his trousers. Dr Gaddas's embarrassed reaction tells him that Peter was pulling his leg. Imran wants Abi to have an abortion if she's pregnant. Abi refuses and declares that if the test is positive, she's telling Kevin. A passing Kevin hears the end of the conversation and asks what she's telling him. Emma and Faye obtain a key to Ted's flat from the key safe and let themselves in. They find Ted seemingly asleep in his chair but it soon becomes clear that he has passed away.
