Plot[]
Part One: Curtis insists he's ill with a genetic heart condition, but Dr Handley says that aside from a hole-in-the-heart operation when he was a child, he's physically well, but he has a concern that he's suffering a factitious mental disorder. Curtis refuses to be referred to a psychologist. He tells Emma that it's been confirmed that his condition is serious and he's having more tests, but they think his problem can be managed. She's delighted at the positive outcome. Ed insists to Aggie that they keep Grace sweet so he can see Glory again. Summer, Asha and Amy makes plans for a Christmas "Ice Ball". Alya and Zeedan they realise they can't afford to buy Elaine out and any other buyer would insist on going through the books. Grace bemoans to Bernie how difficult it is to be a single mum. Summer suggests to Max that he use his film-making skills to record the Ice Ball. She misses the signals that he's smitten with her. Curtis is surprised when his father, Neville, calls at the flat, apologising for upsetting him with his calls. He realises he hasn't told his bride-to-be about his mental health conditions and threatens to tell her.
Part Two: Curtis speak to Neville in private at the bistro where Neville tells him he isn't being fair by lying to everyone and insists he wants to help him. Emma suddenly appears and Curtis introduces him as his stepfather. Utterly thrown, Neville can't bring himself to correct the statement. While Neville's in the toilet, Curtis spins Emma a yarn about his "stepdad" moving in too quickly with his mother after his real father died, causing a family breakdown. He starts to feel the strain of his deceptions. Finding Grace at the Christmas market, Aggie apologises to Grace. Beth and Sean offer to make Emma's wedding dress using the factory's equipment. Bernie catches sight of Grace's phone cam and realises she's left Glory on her own. Realising her true nature, she tears into her for child neglect and insists she returns home immediately. Seeing Daisy come back into the Rovers with Ashley after a shopping trip, Daniel can't hide his jealousy. Debbie is furious when Zeedan signs up for a pitch on the Christmas market that she was interested in. He is perturbed when Hashim sends him a photo of Yasmeen that he's taken from afar at the soup kitchen, seeing it as a veiled threat towards them. Jenny sees that Daisy is embarrassed by Ashley's vacuous character and swaggering boastfulness and advises her to make things up with Daniel, but she refuses, insisting it's over. Curtis thanks his dad for lying, but Neville insists he be truthful with Emma, pointing out the friends and girlfriends he's already lost over the years with his lies. An oblivious Emma enjoys seeing Sean and Beth's dress designs.

- Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this episode was made with social distancing rules being observed by both cast and production crew. Exceptions were occasionally made for instances in which characters were required to be in close contact. These were made in accordance with the rules by employing measures such as more frequent testing and cast members bubbling up together prior to recording.
