Plot[]
Part One: Having passed the entrance exam for Oxford, Summer prepares for her interview. Daniel offers his help in return for her baby-sitting Bertie. The morning of Natasha's funeral sees a mute Sam still hiding away in the hotel bathroom. Ronnie thinks Danny is making a mistake turning down Tom Carswood's job offer and urges James to talk sense into him, not realising that Danny never told James about it. Nick and Leanne prepare to set off for the funeral without Sam when the boy emerges from the bathroom dressed for the service. As he prepares for Kelly's appeal hearing, Imran learns that Corey is pleading guilty to murdering Seb. The news pleases Nina and Abi, though they're furious to learn that due to his age he could serve as little as fourteen years.
Part Two: Kelly is overjoyed that Corey has admitted to being the sole attacker. James tackles Danny about the job offer. Danny says he's happy at the bistro but James suspects he turned it down because of him. Kevin worries that Abi is up to no good again when she disappears from work for two hours. Debbie cryptically orders him to be at the house later. At Weatherfield Crown Court, Imran lays out Kelly's case, noting Corey's plea and the new forensic evidence and asking for her immediate release. The evidence is accepted by the prosecution. Nick, Sam, David, Audrey and Shona meet the funeral cars in Coronation Street. Leanne takes a moment at Oliver's tree, reminded of her son's death. The Judge announces that Kelly's conviction for murder is quashed. Kelly is released from custody and back into foster care. James calls Tom behind Danny's back and establishes that the job is still his if he wants it. He implores his boyfriend not to throw away such a golden opportunity and threatens to dump him if he refuses. Kelly says goodbye to the other girls in the Millbank Centre, but is upset by Mia's warning that mud sticks. Lou Breslin tells Imran and Toyah that Kelly wants to move back in with them. The couple are informed that it might not be possible to foster both Kelly and Elsie as due to her troubled background Elsie is marked as only being suitable for homes where she's the sole child. They're horrified to realise that the might have to choose one over the other.
