Plot[]
Part One: It's the day of Kelly's sentencing. Imran hopes to make up for his failure in court by convincing the judge to pass the minimum sentence of twelve years. Kevin hopes that Abi will make an appearance. Audrey is told about her belated birthday meal at the bistro. She goes along with it as long as Rita isn't there. Gail admits to Sarah that she has already invited her. Imran and Toyah are annoyed to see Sabeen outside the court room working on another case. Nina applies for a fashion and textiles course at Weatherfield College. Asha's thrilled when she asks her to model some samples for photos she can use at her interview. Audrey is underwhelmed to find only Gail, Sarah and David at her birthday meal. Gail leaves a message for Rita un-inviting her. Debbie joins Kevin in court but he's disappointed when Abi is a no-show.
Part Two: Gary watches the proceedings from the public gallery. Imran makes an impassioned speech, begging the judge to consider Kelly's troubled upbringing, poor role models and fragile mental health. Having refused a drink, claiming her family regards her as an old lush, Audrey's offended by her old lady gifts and snaps at Gail for remarking on her squinting to read. She walks out when Rita arrives, having received Gail's message and decided to turn up anyway in the hope of burying the hatchet. Asha's mortified when she tears a dress she's modelling for Nina. The judge asserts that Kelly's background can't mitigate the barbaric nature of Seb's death and sentences the teen to life, serving a minimum of fifteen years. Max defies David by going out despite being grounded. Audrey gets in her car but there's a loud crunch. She's aghast as Gail reveals she's reversed into Rita's car. Kevin is angry to see Sabeen in the court lobby and accuses her of knowing that Corey was the real killer. As they argue, Imran puts his hand on Kevin's shoulder and the latter defensively lamps him in the face.

- Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this episode was made with social distancing rules being observed by both cast and production crew. Exceptions were occasionally made for instances in which characters were required to be in close contact. These were made in accordance with the rules by employing measures such as more frequent testing and cast members bubbling up together prior to recording.
- Kate Waters was the fight arranger for the scene where Kevin Webster accidentally thumps Imran Habeeb.
- Scenes at Weatherfield Crown Court were recorded at the old magistrates' court in Le Mans Crescent, Bolton. This shoot was the first piece of location filming conducted for the programme which was not in close proximity to the MediaCity studios since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
