Plot

Part One: On the day of Norris's funeral, Rita inserts a large photo of him in the paperboy hoarding outside The Kabin as a tribute. A worried Freda asks Gemma and Chesney how Aled is. Gemma is uncomfortable as Chesney tells Freda to stay away from them. Max overhears from the stairs as David complains about Daniel's favouritism towards Summer and suggests that given his history with Bethany, he probably fancies her as well. Daniel complains to Ken how tough teaching is. Ed can't see James at his first training session after his operation as he's occupied with alterations to Grace's house. In school, Max makes a dig at Daniel, likening his relationship with Bethany to that of Romeo and Juliet. The mourners gather as the hearse, with Mary's stapler wreath on top, makes its way down the street. It pauses outside The Kabin before proceeding to St Edmond's Church.

Part One: At the church, Audrey hands round a hip flask of tequila. Mary is dressed as Princess Leia supposedly at Norris's request. She drinks a huge swig on top of a pill she's already taken. Freda notes that Gemma hasn't turned up. Billy leads the service which proceeds to Norris's very specific instructions with his first "hymn" being Rivers of Babylon. When Daniel's wallet goes missing from his pocket while Max is stood nearby, he's quick to blame the lad and starts to shout at him. Gemma arrives at the service. Rita reads out a moving eulogy. Ed offers Paul overtime to work on his other jobs but, the stress getting to him, he is sharp with the lad when he makes helpful suggestions. Billy has a sealed letter from Norris to be read out at the service with instructions that Roy be the one to do so. A tipsy Audrey continues swigging from her hip flask as Roy begins the letter, including a comment towards a put-out Mary that he once asked her to dress as Princess Leia at his funeral purely as a joke but even she wouldn't be so daft as to take him seriously. Daniel keeps Max behind to make him surrender his wallet. When Tracy rings Daniel reminding him to collect Bertie from her, Max plays up that he's happy to keep the detention going. Beginning to lose his temper, Daniel throws him out. Norris's letter reveals that the paperboy outside the shop contains a secret, but Rita is embarrassed and annoyed when he speaks of the supposed sexual tension between them, and then reveals that she used to go to Claudia rather than Audrey to have her hair coloured. Audrey rounds on her in the middle of the service. Back on the street, Daniel grabs Max's bag to search it. David sees them tussle and demands to know what's going on.
