Plot[]

Part One: It's the day of Aled's cochlear implant and Bernie drives Gemma and Chesney mad with her enthusiasm. Gemma still has fears about the operation. Yasmeen is determined to contact DS Abney to report Hashim and Zeedan has to confess that he caused the problem by cheating on his wife. Max tells David that he's getting less homework because of his ADHD as it's felt that too much will erode his confidence. George signs himself and Todd up for a deaf awareness course. Freda asks to see Norris, and George has to confess that the coffin has been sealed as she didn't respond to their message confirming that she didn't want a viewing. She angrily retorts that they left a voicemail that she can't hear. Grace packs her things to move out of No.3, pushing Ed to finishing snagging the new house. Still not knowing of her blackmail, Michael offers to pay half her rent and, in front of Ed, she taunts him by smilingly accepting the offer. An angry David finds out from Daniel that Max lied to him about the homework. Ashamed of Zeedan's behaviour, Yasmeen rejects his money. Freda walks into the cafe as Bernie enthuses about the changes coming into Aled's life. She's offended when she says the child will be normal once he's had the operation. Gary visits Kelly who says that she's convinced her father is alive as Sharon agreed he was the one who donated her trial fees.

Part Two: With Gemma stressed, Freda offers to take Aled for a walk on the Red Rec. Zeedan apologises to Ryan for wrongly accusing him, revealing that Alya still thinks a lot of him. Lisa Layton, the sign language interpreter, meets with George to discuss Norris's order of service. Freda expresses her concerns about Aled to Charlie, the BSL teacher. Gary harangues Sharon for giving Kelly hope that her father is alive and tells her to stay away from the girl. From a distance, Freda is upset as she lipreads Bernie and Chesney agreeing that all the sign language lessons and deaf groups will be ending once Aled can hear. Grace refuses to pass on to Ed any rent money that Michael pays her, once again threatening to move away with Glory. Aggie is furious when she hears about the new arrangement. With Gemma ready to go to the hospital, Freda hasn't returned with Aled. Zeedan prepares to move to Leicester. Yasmeen accepts his loan, provided he lives at No.6 where she can keep an eye on him. Summer calls at the corner shop flat for her extra tuition. Finding out what's going on, David accuses Daniel of favouritism. Looking for Aled, Gemma hears from Roy that Freda was upset by Bernie. Gemma fears she's taken her son.
