Plot[]
Part One: From the gallery, Simon shouts abuse down at Imran for failing Kelly as Toyah tries to assure her depressed partner that he did everything he could. Simon finds the discarded good-luck charm on the public benches. Imran blames Toyah for persuading him to give Kelly hope. Roy tries to persuade Nina that she brought dignity to the proceedings which he says were nothing but a chess game with people's lives, but she discards her veil. Imran warns a sobbing Kelly that she faces a twelve-year sentence while assuring her that he will look for any grounds for an appeal. She is taken away. Kevin brings Abi home, asking Debbie to find a hotel somewhere so he can get her away from everything for a while. Overhearing them, Abi walks out. Returning home, Imran admits there are no grounds for an appeal and starts to take out his frustrations on Toyah. They row when she accuses him of displaying classic displacement and he walks out. Abi refuses to return home, thinking Kevin looks on her as a project. Asha tells Simon that his ideas of an appeal are unrealistic. Dev visits Roy who smashes a plate in anger at the reaction the verdict has had on his niece who has already faced so much misfortune in her life. Dev listens sympathetically and passes on a message to Nina that Asha would like to see her when she's ready. Imran passes Seb's memorial garden where Abi is sat. He apologises for letting her down. Sabeen also passes by, looking for Imran, and Abi rails at her for what she did, saying that nobody has paid for her son's life. She asks them for access to cocaine as they must know a source. Imran begs her not to go down that line. Leanne takes Simon round to the flat to apologise to Imran and hears from Toyah about their row. Sabeen takes Imran for a drink and gives him a spare key to her house if he needs somewhere to stay for the night. She sympathises with him, but insists that although things are cruel, they are simply doing their job. She insists she still cares about him.
Part Two: As dusk falls, Imran finds Abi still in the garden. She's managed to avoid getting high on drugs, although she's obtained a supply. Leanne comforts Toyah with a glass of wine as Imran sits with Abi, admitting he failed Seb. She admits that what she did towards her son was worse as she rails against the world. Roy and Nina sit quietly together. At the Millbank Centre, an officer raises an alarm when she checks Kelly's cell. Sabeen intercepts Imran in her taxi when he returns home. Toyah takes a call saying that Kelly has attempted suicide.
