Plot[]
Part One: Gary protests while the judge threatens him with contempt of court. Maria tries to talk to Fiz about her suspicions that Tyrone is still seeing Alina but is interrupted when Fiz tells her how much the two of them are trying to get things back to normal. Faye’s barrister thinks they can make an appeal now that her sentence is excessive, or wait until after Ray’s trial for a mitigating motive, which could get Faye out of jail, but could also take months. Gary is told that if Ray changes his plea, it will help speed up matters. Peter is told there is no firm timeline for his transplant. Abi forces Seb to change his mind and go to the gig with Nina. A despondent Craig drowns his sorrows in the Rovers. He tears a strip off Kirk for causing the break-up of his and Faye’s relationship. Debbie is scared out of her wits when she finds a determined Gary waiting for her in the darkened bistro office. He demands she summons Miles and then goes to the furniture shop to pick up a wrapped package.
Part Two: Maria interrupts Gary, suspecting he’s up to something and pleads with him to let the correct appeals process take place. Jenny is suspicious as to why Rita should get a fake nomination and worries that Cathy’s trolls now know where she lives. Peter is discharged and returns home. Seb asks Nina if he can go to the gig with her, telling her that her confidence and coolness scares him. She’s not put off staying the night with him due to his HIV. He’s delighted they’re back on. Maria calls at the garage and tells Tyrone that at the time Alina was supposedly in bed with Lucas, she was giving him a haircut. Debbie leads Miles into the bistro where Gary is waiting. Telling them not to make a mess, she leaves them to it. Gary offers the crooked lawyer a bribe of £15,000 to get Ray to change his plea. He’s scornful of the sum and walks out. Maria tells Tyrone he’d better come clean to Fiz or she’ll do it for him. Leaving the garage, she prevents Gary from stopping Miles from driving away from the bistro. Gary comes clean about the bribe, and she tells him that similar underhand actions are why they broke up and he should stop doing such things. He asks if they have a chance together if he does, but Maria won’t give him an answer.
