Plot[]
Part One: Sweating and shaking, Peter sits at the table and pens a letter to Simon which he finds difficult to compose. Gail confides in Nick that she's traced Fanny from the photo who it turns out is her great-great grandmother and she's arranged to meet up with someone called "Top Hat" who claims he is a descendent of hers too. Peter calls into the cafe where he tells Carla he'd like to draw a line under their feud, and he forgives her for sleeping with Adam. She's unnerved by his words. Michael demands that James backs him up about Grace living at No.3. Having overheard what Peter said, Roy draws parallels with Hayley's suicide, scaring Carla. Kirk prepares for his 39th birthday tomorrow. Paul lets slip that he and Billy are meeting at Speed Daal that night and Todd hurriedly invites himself and Ajay along to avoid joining Kirk for his celebrations. Carla bursts into No.1, afraid that Peter has done something stupid. He has to calm her down. She's relieved but when she sees his notebook, she's horrified to realise it's a suicide letter to Simon.
Part Two: Peter insists it's not a suicide note, but a farewell letter as he's come to accept that he's dying and can't fight his condition any more. She refuses to give up and tears the note out of the book. Grace moves into No.3 to a barbed welcome from Aggie and Michael has to intervene and read them both the riot act as they start to snipe at each other. Mary is annoyed when she sees George and Audrey having a warm chat in the street after she recognises him as Archie's son. Unperturbed, George takes Audrey to the Rovers. As Billy and Paul sit down to dinner, Ajay arrives and thanks them for inviting him and Todd along. Billy's quietly furious. In front of a watching Abi, Debbie has to tell Sally and David the development is cancelled, their houses are safe and in David's case, she'll sell No.8 back to him at the original price. Gail joins Audrey in the Rovers, who introduces her to George, but she's stunned to discover that "Top Hat" is none other than George himself. Having traced the emergency call about Abi to Debbie's phone, DS Tyler calls into the bistro to demand some answers from her as she's talking to Abi. On a mission, Carla drags Simon round to No.1 where to Peter's horror, she reads out the letter when he refuses to do so. Realising his father is drinking again, a shaken Simon walks out. Peter tells Carla he'll never forgive her for what she's done.
