Plot[]
Part One: Gary explains to Faye that Adam has been telling the police that he was the one who assaulted him, though he insists he's innocent. Debbie quizzes Ray, wondering exactly why Gary changed his mind about selling Underworld. Ray's evasive about what happened, but says he has another plan. Todd has spent the night on the flat sofa. Paul turns up, having been charged with criminal damage and assault. Billy's deeply concerned whilst Todd relishes the news, stirring things up by saying any prison sentence will be over quickly. Kelly discusses with DS Willets a Christmas card that Rick has supposedly sent her, but which is clear of prints. She tells him that Gary is the only person who has had any contact with him. Ray and Debbie offer Nick alternative premises for the factory for half the rent with double the square footage. He's suspicious of their motives. Daniel discovers that Peter has discharged himself from hospital. Faye tries to find out from Craig what the police think of Adam's accusation, but he's unable to divulge anything, making her think they're preparing to arrest Gary. Tim sees Bernie trying to sell the toys and gives her £60 for the lot. Sarah calls on Adam and they flirt with each other. Faye bursts in, begging Adam to retract his statement about her brother to the police.
Part Two: Sarah orders Faye to leave. Elaine's pleased to see that Tim has managed to get his toys back. He tells her how much they mean to him now. Billy and Paul announce that they've cleared the air and realise they need to spend more time together. Summer is delighted whilst Todd quietly seethes. Peter turns up at No.1 having been to an addicts' meeting and for a walk. Sarah returns to the flat, dressed to the nines and carrying a bottle of wine. Adam agrees to her suggestion that they see in the New Year together. Nick is delighted with a T-shirt that Sam gives him for his birthday. They talk about the way that a fresh start and major changes can happen with a New Year. Adam suggests to Sarah that they should start again with a clean slate. She smiles seductively and leads him to the bedroom. A clearly upset Kelly confronts Gary and demands that he tell her what he's done to her dad. Maria sends her packing. Nick refuses Ray's offer in no uncertain terms, telling him that he's an evil influence on his family. In front of Faye, Maria accuses Gary of Adam's assault and they argue. As the countdown reaches midnight and the neighbourhood fireworks start, Faye breaks down, confessing to them that she assaulted Adam, thinking it was Ray in the darkened bar.
