Plot[]

Part One: It is Yasmeen's final day in court. Daniel starts potty-training Bertie. Dev tackles Daniel about the money Adam owes the shop. Daniel starts putting two and two together when he hears that Adam misplaced his wallet and had to owe Dev for his groceries. Carla tells Peter that she's meeting a client later. Debbie volunteers Abi to drop Jack off at school when Kevin heads to Blackpool for a car part. Ray has made an offer on The Kabin and threatens to reduce it by £10,000 every day Brian and Cathy delay. The trial reconvenes with the news that the defence has submitted new evidence. Geoff is recalled to the witness box.

Part Two: Roy doesn't find firm evidence of suffragette meetings taking place on brewery premises but thinks the tower's internal heating coil, made from the original Victorian copper, may interest Historic England. Imran gets Geoff to reaffirm that he hasn't seen Elaine since July before showing the court CCTV footage of him in the hospital last week, on the day Elaine said he came to her room. Geoff says it isn't him, noting the cap and face mask obscuring the man's features. Imran then produces footage of Geoff leaving his car, clad in the same clothes as the man on the hospital CCTV, in a municipal car park half a mile away from the hospital shortly beforehand. Roy and Ken tell Debbie about their application to have the brewery listed. Daniel finds out from Sarah where her work conference took place. Forced to change tack, Geoff states that he was at the hospital to collect a box of CDs from his studio and didn't see Elaine. His story shifts as Imran picks holes in his testimony, questioning why he parked so far away from the hospital and why he can't name any patients he allegedly took song requests from. Peter calls at the factory supposedly to take Carla out for lunch, but really to catch her with her mystery man. He's put in his place when he meets Carla's client, a woman. Warned by Debbie, Ray decides to send in the demolition crew today, before the protesters can lodge their application. Having cast doubt over his testimony, Imran tries to get Geoff to lose his temper by accusing him of taking pleasure in tormenting women. Provoked, Geoff launches into a vile rant in the witness box, calling Yasmeen a beaten-down, pathetic excuse for a woman who was solely responsible for her ex-husband pursuing an affair with her former best friend.

Part Three: Debbie pretends to cut herself with a knife so that she has a reason to send Kevin out to the car for a first aid kit. Peter and Leanne urge each other not to throw their relationships away. Kevin finds the heroin foil Debbie planted in the car and asks Abi if she's using, noting that she's the only one who used the car today. Abi says she wouldn't be stupid enough to leave it lying around if it was hers. Peter tells Carla he's been a fool and shocks her by asking her to marry him in Kefalonia right away. She says yes. Daniel tells Adam that he knows he slept with Carla; he's been to the Chariot Square Hotel and spoken to the cleaner who found his wallet. The jury finds Yasmeen not guilty of attempted murder. Outraged, Geoff storms out of the courtroom while the Nazirs celebrate.

Part Four: Daniel is appalled by his nephew's behaviour and makes no promises to keep his fling to himself. Abi thinks Debbie has set her up to get rid of her. Kevin's unsure who to believe. The residents are stunned to see a bulldozer make its way down the street. Rita gives Ray an earbashing while the neighbours intercept the bulldozer at the brewery gates, blocking its access. As Yasmeen leaves the court with Alya, Geoff ambushes them, expecting to take Yasmeen home and resume their marriage. He backs down when Imran threatens to have him arrested. Leanne collects her things from the flat and leaves Nick. She plans to go and see Eva and Stella after a night at the Rovers. Daniel marches over to the Rovers, intent on telling Peter the truth, and finds the happy couple celebrating their engagement. He tells Carla he knows the truth. Abi, David, Kevin, Brian, Cathy, Ken, Rita and Roy form a socially distanced protest outside the brewery, setting up for the night. An unhappy Ray is forced to hold the bulldozers back. Yasmeen makes a formal complaint against Geoff at the police station. At No.6, Geoff calls Christine and tells her they're going to Cyprus - after he's tied up some loose ends...

Notable dialogue[]

Imran Habeeb: "You took sadistic pleasure in seeing your wife on her knees. Pleading, begging, broken. The independence of mind and spirit that you so despised fully drained out of her by your actions. You finally thought you'd beaten her, didn't you?"
Geoff Metcalfe: "She was beaten before we started! She beat her flaming self! She really thought she was summin' but let me tell you something sunshine, she was nothing from the off - useless in the kitchen, in the bedroom - that's why 'er first husband was knockin' off 'er best mate for years. Couldn't wait to get away 'cos 'e was so miserable at 'ome with 'is so-called wife. Not that she blamed 'erself, no, no, she never did, but I made 'er take a good hard look in the mirror, and it's not my fault that she didn't like the pathetic excuse for a woman that she saw!"
Imran Habeeb: "No more questions, your honour."
